Gateway to the Beacons

Been out for food and drinks. Bought a bottle of local wine to bring back, no corkscrew in room

Serrated knife and spoon and bottle open, no cork in the wine

The army taught me me many things

By the time the night guy translated my language I’d have found a dozen other ways to open it

Easy, simply remove shoe and hold bottle upright while slapping the base of the bottle with said shoe. You must remove the foil from cork first. Cork will come out slowly enough to grip and pull out.

Shame you weren't in the IC. Forward Planning and Info gathering. You'd have had a bottle opener before buying the bottle (or sourced one at the same time)

I'm watching this thread closely.. if someone doesn't say they didn't mcguyver opening the bottle which involves toothpaste, some tin foil and a guy having to make cartwheels down the hotel corridors, I'm going to be seriously dissapointed lol

Do you get a scout badge for doing that? If not it sounds like far too much hard work for little gain!

Wine. You are rewarded with wine, and I’d walk over hot coal to get a glass of decent booze.

That’s annoying! Most hotels will have one though. I’ve put a hole through then pushed them in before but it’s a real faff
