I've tried 189 times with Rex and I am still trying because he's like L'Oréal and he's worth it.

With one person? Just the once.

With swinging generally? Never

If you're talking about one particular person, never badger- if she says no or doesn't reply, it's the same as a no

Once. Always. With one particular recent exception where I lost my mind and stupidly tried about three times. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t go well!!

If you make a genuine effort and it’s rebuffed, then stop there. If you’re not convinced you have done yourself justice, then maybe several weeks later try once more… maybe…

The best advice I guess is to put in a good effort each time, and just try the once. A no is a no, and that’s ok!!

Unless you’re trying to break into show business, once.

No means no. Whatever the question. Whatever the audience. Wherever the forum.

No reply also means no (which still means no).

If they don't reply then only 1 message, but then I get confused by the people on friends list that never speak to you but still like your pics even though they never replied.

"Once is the correct answer when it comes to a particular person rejecting you."

This.

If they then later change their mind, I’m happy enough to chat and see if there’s any connection there to meet and play, but they would have to contact me.

It’s not rocket science, and too many people on here get hung up about the fact that not everybody likes everybody else enough to want to get naked.

But apparently some people get too many messages to notice them all. Why not one more polite message a few weeks later?

Or they might have been too busy to respond the first time, and the next time you could get lucky, catch them in the right mood.

I’m also part of a couple’s profile. We don’t mind another message. Normally ignore them, but not always. I bet the occasional second attempt works, and what’s the harm in trying?

But always be polite, and charming if possible.

The worst, though, is a second message within a few hours: “not interested?” “No?” They won’t get a reply, or maybe some sarcastic advice if I’m feeling generous.

I generally try to understand what stories people's profiles tell before even attempting.

For example, the demographic of verified meets compared to the actual age range preference. And, the sexes of meets compared to actual sexual preferences on the profile. The profile text also goes a long way in helping my decisions.

If my analysis of their profile doesn't show favourable signs I don't bother myself at all. If it does, once and call it quits.

You can't convince anyone into forming an attraction to you.

Tip: avoid rude sounding profiles and those that compel you to convince them - it's not an audition.
