The Kinks' masterpiece, Dedicated follower of fashion, has to be the best song about clothing in the 1960s, ever written

Newry Down

When I was working up in the north of England, years ago, the Paul Simon song, Diamonds on the soles of her shoes, was incessantly on my car's cassette tape player.

I used to like Paul Simon as an individual, but what I have learned since then, he does not seem to be a particularly pleasant guy to be around, in recent years.
