I can't believe how naughty I have been.

I have just bought an electro acoustic 12 string guitar

Sounds sweet

My Christmas present to myself was a carbon fibre guitar. The sound is surprisingly rich.

Stay away from the pedals.

They’re a gateway drug.

You start off with a cheap little Behringer or a Chinese multi-effects. It can’t do any harm can it? All your friends have pedals.

But one pedal leads to another. Then you’re building them. Then you start looking at drum machines and sequencers and it leads to all manner of electronic music creation and wild expense, and ultimately a life of destitution on the streets, selling your body for “OEM” germanium transistors.

Just say “No” to pedals, kids.

And you don’t need that posh 100w amp which has been looking at you funny, either.

Please don't mind my rude husband. First step to getting better is getting an instrument to practice on. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun doing so.

Completely agree. Pedals can a lot of fun and I when I feel like plugging in a bunch of boxes they're just great.

But you can get astounding sounds from software VSTs at a fraction of the cost. They can be easily arranged in whatever order you want. You don't spend ages dealing with cables and plugging things in. They don't take up any space.

There will always be an argument in favour of analogue gear over digital, but for the cost it's just not worth it.

Maybe a nice analogue compressor though.

It’s because I work with computers. I don’t want to play with them, too.

I want Analogue and dials and soldering irons and accidentally setting expensive things on fire by meddling where I shouldn’t.

I still have most of my behringer effects rack from my band days, multigate, multireverb, graphic, crossover, patchbay, just missing the desk

Total indulgence! What is wrong with a cheapish (5 quid) ukelele from Lidl. There are cheaper ones on line!

Awesome! People shit on Behringer stuff all the time but I've never had any issues with it.

You could run all your effects through an audio interface and have them set up in a DAW to use the mixer there if you wanted
