If ever a son should be proud of the legacy his Dad left, it's Gerry Andersons.

He made the TV 'establishment' take Children's Television seriously and, along the way, produced some of the most creative programmes ever made.

Thunderbirds, Stingray, Captain Scarlett etc., etc., were my World when I was a kid growing up in the 60's and early 70's. I would never have believed his shows would still be watched the World over 40-50 years later, and many - like UFO - become cult classics.

A BIG part of my childhood has come to a close today.

RIP Mr Anderson... and Thank You
