... by putting The Greatest Story Ever Told on Boxing Day and not over the Easter weekend.

Still a good film though.

It does, however, it centres on his life as an adult, leading up to the crucifixion and subsequent resurrection.

The time given to the circumstances of his birth is short by comparison in the film.

by that rationale they should only show titanic in april and the longest day in june. mind you those events have the added bonus of having actually happened

it was released on February 15 1965.. too late for the xmas audience too early for easter

It is also supposed to be about his whole life and work (whether you think that is real or fictional). The big epic religious films now only appear at Christmas or Easter. Some are better than others but I like a good film at any time.
