Any fellow detectorists, or friendly landowners?

During lockdown, with all my usual hobbies out of bounds, I decided to try my hand at something I'd wanted to have a go at for ages...metal detecting! And I can confirm - it's even more fun than I suspected! Yep, it's geeky but I'm really beginning to embrace my geekiness as I get older. Fascinating, too, if you're interested in history. The most difficult part of the hobby is finding land to detect on, as all land is owned by someone, so permission is required...

Do we have any kind landowners who'd welcome a friendly detectorist? Everywhere has history...large or small, urban or rural. Anything found is yours to keep - the thrill is in the finding! Perhaps you'd like to give it a try yourself? Very happy to give you a demo.

I'm based in Leeds but happy to travel throughout the North. Our glorious counties have such a rich history, just waiting to be uncovered.

Thanks for reading, and for any help or suggestions you can give.

Gary

I lost my watch in Pete’s anus during a fisting sesh. Bring your probe to check if it will detect it in his deep colon

I also detect, I love it! Shame we're far from each other. Although anyone with permission available on land in Essex or Cambridgeshire, give me a shout I'm very reliable and a qualified archaeologist.

I can't recommend it highly enough! Give it a go - you'll love it!

There are loads of detecting groups on Facebook, just search for one local to you, and pop along to one of their group digs. Most folk are really friendly, and just as keen on discovering history as you.

If you're ever in the North, give me a shout. Let me know how you get on...good luck!

I bought one in middle of pandemic still to be used but as you say hidden secrets to be explored most have found stuff on farm land giving a huge profit as well as the history discovered
