i got myself a project for new year re-building my 1990 colnago conic slx,it has been re-enamelled so i've now got to clean/polish the old shimano ultegra stuff for re-build.

It all depends how much you have to spend, Dura ace aren't cheap, ultegra are good quality groupset and cheaper, I have just bought a pair of fulcrum racing quattros really good training wheels and only 300 quid, if your looking at mavic wheels try ribble cycles they are just about the cheapest for named products, planet x are ok but there there own products

Dura ace is top shimano unless you go electronic ? ..... if your upgrading from 105, why not just go ultegra ? ..... still a very good upgrade .... end of the day theres nothing wrong with 105 stuff ...Dura ace stuff may seem a bit wasted on a giant defy 1 ..... if it was something sexy and italian , like a carbon de-rosa or colanago then yes ...

wheels are always personal preference, lots of good deals out there on mavics and fulcrums .... pay your money and take ur pick ..... cant beat a good pair of hand built wheels over factory built wheels ... ask at a local shop about wheel builders in your area

A dura ace front mech will make fuck all difference in performance and save a handful of grams over an Ultegra or 105. Similarly the rear mech.

A £500 pair of wheels will make a more noticable difference but for the average rider are a pair of Kysriums are not noticably faster than Askiums.

Or you could spend the money on a bikefit or a coach and make some real gains.
