Somewhere In The Ether…

Ey up good folks.

We’re all very much encouraged to recycle today.

My question: How much do you do? Do you just fill the recycle bag/bin up or do you really push and go the extra mile? If the latter, what do you do?

I think it would be more efficient for the waste to be sorted at a centralised facility.

Chemical engineering 101 taught that your processing / sorting would be more cost effect and accurate when doing so.

Allowing people to be indiscriminate in multiple bins is pretending and creates problems…

I realise reading my post, what a boring dude I am…

your wildest dreams,

Important thing is to do what you can and never Think your efforts are too small to not matter. Also reduce and reuse Where possible before getting to recycle

.

I rinse all plastics and put them in recycling. I know most of them will end up burnt, but at least it will be used to create energy/electricity which is better than disposed in landfills for hundreds of years.

I try to stir away for non organic clothes that will end up (through wash and sewage) as micro plastic in the ocean.

I separate aluminium, which can be recycled at infinite. There are places that will take it freely or even pay for it if you have loads.

I put vegs, etc. in compost bins I made, with worms in them to help the decomposition process.

My kitchen bins (compost and general waste) are re-purposed 5-L plastic bottles, which I’ve cut at 2/3 and use the top as an odour proof cover.

I shred cardboard that have food on them (eg take way pizza box, etc.) and put them in my small DIY compost bin. Shredding the cardboard will help the decomposition process.

Coz limes, lemons, oranges and tomatoes are acids and kill the worms, I put them in a specific compost bin and just wait they decompose.

I place a paper bag in the bathroom where I wrote “recycling only” for all recyclables product. This is for the guests also.

I use a foldable coffee cup for take away coffee, coz I’m a man and tend not to travel with a hand bag…

Happy if the above can help/inspire other…
