Health anxiety

I’ve noticed recently my health anxiety is over the roof. I’ve been through some rough times health wise last few months but currently there’s nothing wrong with my health, well, I’ve been diagnosed with endometriosis and it’s surely affecting my life but it’s manageable .

The problem is I can’t stop obsessing about STIs. I’ve been always very aware and careful in the past but it didn’t affect me to the point as it’s affecting me now.

Just can’t even think about meeting someone because of that. You surely won’t see me in the jacuzzi!

Hope to hear from you about how do I manage that or is it time for me to depart.

Is it common occurrence on here or am I losing my mind?

What techniques have helped you manage anxiety in the past? Can you turn them towards your current health anxiety?

It sounds like you would benefit from some cognitive behavioural therapy to help you manage the anxious thoughts, I've had it in the past and found it helpful. Good luck x

Honestly when people call for bareback with multiple partners I turns me off big time… no anxiety… common sense.

Love skin on skin but only with partner where testing and trust is there.

Jacuzzi at a club needs to be well dosed with chlorine me thinks.

I haven’t really experienced that type anxiety before.

I start to think it may be somehow related to the fact I’m also in a full blown menopause so maybe I should address it with my GP.

Thank you, I’m happy to hear it helped you in the past. I will definitely look into CBT.

Any kind of anxiety is anxiety.

Talk to your GP, or a similar outlet that could give you the particular and bespoke advice that a public forum simply could not.

I agree and I try to avoid those threads. It adds certainly to my anxiety, for sure and I’m not judgmental, just as you said, common sense.

OP I do understand your concerns about STIs but I think if it has got to the point where you are obsessing about them then I would suggest you might want to take a bit of break from here.

Give it a few weeks and then see where your head is at. If your are still concerned then maybe a talk to a Dr about your anxiety?

Fair point. I will be definitely addressing that with health professionals but just wanted to touch base on here first.

You recognise it as anxiety so you’re already on a firm footing and the menopause probably won’t help. Are you already on any medication for it which might be affecting things?

As said above, some professional help is the next place to look and hopefully you can be advised with a mixture of methods to manage the risk and ways to deal with the anxiety.

Don’t beat yourself up, it is a genuine worry that’s troubling you. You just need to find a way to manage it and live the life you want.

I don't have a personal experience to relate to your particular anxiety, however as other mentioned it is still anxiety. Mind charity has some great resources and also local groups.

Are you taking any hormones? Could it be a side effect?

Good point.

I’m currently using this site to participate in forum and for fab socials and I think my profile is fairly honest about it so it’s not the web that’s giving me anxiety, quite frankly the opposite.

I will be addressing this issue with my GP.

Thank you, that’s a very good advice.

I’m looking to see my gyn regarding HTR so maybe that’s my first step.

Thank you, I will definitely have a look.

I’m not on any medications at the moment, and I probably should be.
