Stock photos (have they never heard of reverse image search)

Same age, height, other details all the same and one letter names. Suggest a lack of imagination on the part of the fraudster.

Language almost always gives it away. Men and woman talk differently generally.

Ask for a picture of them both together and separately will filter 99.9% of the fakes out.

It happens to guys too unfortunately. I drove 30 plus miles to meet a couple for a car meet ( yes stupid I know). Got there and just a grubby single bloke who claimed his wife had been called into work but we could still entertain each other. If it's not what you signed up for its wrong regardless of your sex.
