So I've stayed inside all day today and I genuinely can't remember the last time that's happened. I've always found an excuse to go outside even if it was just for a walk but today, I've just sat inside watching TV all day and not gonna lie... I kinda like it.

When was the last time you stayed inside doing nothing all day?

Oh one of my usual wankathon days where I go like, 7 times in a day or something. I just lie there like a cow that's been pushed over, but sweaty, and only ever making horrific grunts when it's one of those painful ones cause your balls just can't take anymore yet, here you are, making them work again.

Those ones.

That is my usual Monday, having worked all weekend it's nice just to shut the door and forget the world exists, even if it is only for 24 hours

I do it quite a bit now to stay warm snuggled up on sofa can't be arsed going out in the cold.

hope to go for a drive later though, neither of us like being shut in much.

Since September when all three kids were at school I no longer have to do the school run while my husband does the nursery run. And with working from home there's some occasions when I realise I haven't left the house in 3 days. I usually pop to the shop just to get some air when I notice.

I've noticed a lot of guilt around Christmas this year. There's no shame in taking a few days to just do nothing or in eating and enjoying life. The whole year is taken up with getting up, out, work, home, worry and strife, we deserve to give ourselves a break

Back of Nowhere and Beyond

The last time was December 2nd, the day before the dogs arrived in my life. I think I'd not left the house in 2 weeks, but that was normal. Not doing nothing though, I don't remember the last time I had a day where all I did was flop and chill.

The only reason I've left the house in a week this time is to walk the dogs.

Posh

That's a really good way to look at it. It does feel like we move at 100mph every day that when there is a day where there's nothing to do, the immediate emotion is that we should be doing something.

There's a culture of being busy. We both retired in our late fifties partly through choice and partly circumstances, the first question a lot of people asked us was "but what will you do, how will you fill your time?" As if working was life and the alternative was inactivity.

Days doing nothing are actually days spent regrouping, recharging, gathering your thoughts, sorting things in your mind and giving yourself space before you get back on the treadmill. I think sometimes we're so caught up in the business of living that we forget to actually live

I need at least a day a week where I don't leave the house. I really need it to decompress. I also don't like to go out without doing my hair and make up, so it's like a treat to stay in cosy and looking a disaster. I work from home so it's very easily done and I don't feel guilty about it at all

The third day of our holiday, because I was in too much pain. I stayed in the bedroom but had things to do on my phone. We stayed mainly indoors yesterday due to a storm but went to the hotel laundry, the lounge, the kid's club etc, we didn't remain in our hotel room.
