I expected it to be very busy when I was out tonight but I couldn't even find an Indian open after 9:30pm. Most places were closed early and they said it was because its boxing day

Wtf I always thought boxing day was the night to be out.

Pembrokeshire

everything shuts here by 8pm as normal except the kebab, so given it's a festive day, nothing was open for take outs today.

Lots of things closed here but that's because there's a Big Storm and it's a bit hairy going out to the seafront. We've played games inside, done the washing and made a belated Christmas dinner. Things SHOULD have been open, if an Atlantic storm hadn't blown in.

Are you still on holiday? This will go down as memorable for all the wrong reasons

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

Extremely quiet. But then I'm in a rural area.

It used to be the day you go to the pub and catch up with all the friends that are only back in your hometown for Christmas, pub used to be packed.

Yep. We had a wonderful lightning display as we ate tonight. I'm currently listening to the wind whistling and the awning flapping

It's not exactly been the holiday we'd planned, I must say! Though the storm should be gone by tomorrow some time (it started late last night).

At least you're laughing about it.

When we were in Majorca recently there was a storm that caused flooding and loss of life. A few hotel staff lost their homes. Yet one 'gentleman'complained that service in the restaurant was slow and an area was closed due to flooding

Oh, there's Brits complaining here that the pool is closed today. It's closed because stuff keeps blowing into it and they can't keep it clean and tidy and therefore safe. They can't put the pool loungers out because they blow into the pool and they can't put the parasols up for the same reason. Why are people so stupid?!

We'd cry if we didn't laugh! The entertainment team are doing a sterling job of trying to keep everyone (kids mainly) amused. We've played a lot of Rummy and our daughter has enjoyed building stuff out of giant Lego and doing crafts in the lounge downstairs. It could be much, much worse.

There's been a lot of flooding elsewhere on the island and anyone who lives at the higher altitudes would be struggling with significant snowfall at the moment, there are/were cars trapped up in the Teide National Park for example.
