Planning Christmas Dinner !

I know a lot of us put a lot in to planning and executing Christmas dinner

My question

Do you go for the tried and trusted recipes or go for something completely different I know everyone is different as well list is endless

I’ve got for traditional Christmas dinner turkey roasties broccoli cauliflower mix peas carrots roasted with the parsnips stuffing gravy

Always have a starter and pud as well

Starter prawn cocktail

Put chocolate gateau with fresh cream

Mince pies on standby with squirty cream

So what’s your Christmas Day Menu

My mums cooking so we will have a salmon starter. Turkey mash, roasties, Brussels red cabbage pigs in blankets and stuffing. No pudding unless its ice cream. I'm afraid if I was hosting these days I'd buy everything all ready prepared

Christmas dinner is all different for everyone never thought about salmon as starter though stuck in 70 with prawn cocktail meal sounds lovely you all enjoy have merry Christmas to all of you

Prawn cocktails have come back in fashion. I used to do either just smoked salmon and brown bread or pate and toast

Swerving the table sat starter for help yourself canapés few hours pre dinner.

I’m used to full house so dinner is just Sunday roast with extras that I prepare night before.

No pudding nobody at this point gives a shit but I pre cook buffet bits night before .

Games booze boot them out after, week free then till back to work to chill

Going to be trying gammon for the first time for a Christmas dinner. I'm quite glad though because I eat turkey and chicken enough regularly, I fancy a fatter meat

25th December is one long day of put food down our necks starting with a full English to see us through till 30m where we start with scallops this year with black pudding and bacon then cheeky prawn ring with lobster and crayfish tails smoked salmon then turkey with everything honey-glazed carrots and parsnips roast potatoes pigs in blankets turkey gravy and Yorkshire pudding Bailey's cheesecake then moving into the evening with a selection of cheese and Port.

Only once before have I not had Turkey and then I was at my Sisters; she did a Beef Wellington.

This year I'm cooking a leg of lamb. I'm feeling lost. Normally,today I would of defrosted the Turkey crown, tomorrow I'd brine it, Christmas eve, do the butter under the skin etc.

Lamb so much easier.

The first year I did Christmas Dinner for the family my mum came round and found the pre-prepared veg in the fridge. You'd have thought the world had ended. A few years on, she seems to have adopted the same approach

i live on my own so will be eating on my own,,, so its just like a normal sunday dinner but with a few extra bits on the plate,,, but no sprouts or parsnips,, devils work they are,,, most stuff sold in the shops are packed for a family of 4 or more so limited to what i can get and not be sick of the sight of in the coming days,,,

Turkey ham and roast beef with mash potatoes roast potatoes, potatoes croquettes stuffing Cauliflower and broccoli Carrots Yorkshire pudding and Gravy to top it off lol can't forget the Brussels sprouts and apple sauce
