Why this obsession with this question at Christmas ?

What’s classed as done for those who have achieved this god like status ?

Apart from fresh items, yes I'm done.

It means are the presents bought and wrapped and is the food purchased

Yes I am done, all that's left is to buy the fresh veggies and the meat to be delivered.

I don't mind the 'are you done' question, probably because I am quite an organised person at crimbo and therefore it doesn't add any pressure or guilt to me.

I don't think it's an obsession but the planning and preparation is quite a task if you have guests or a family. Often their expectations are far greater than their willingness to help so the job falls to one or two people.

Are you organised? There’s a lot to do.

Have you bought what you need? People but more stuff than usual!

That type of question.

Kudos. I'm cooking for 6 and if I'm less than 2 hours late in serving Christmas Dinner I will take that as a win!

For me frozen vegetables are the way forward. I don't add pressure by insisting on preparing fresh. Anyone who wants fresh best bring it themselves, prepared and cooked. Easy starter, pate and toast this year, and ready prepared dessert. It's relaxing with food that I enjoy and cooking is something I don't really like much so I make it as easy as possible

Back of Nowhere and Beyond

We had our Christmas already because we can't be together on the 25th, so that's done and dusted. I've just got to pick up my nephews gifts and I'm done.

No cooking, no entertaining, just me and the dogs.

Is a far cry from when I ran a pub and it was all systems go!

Posh

Oh cooking is my thing. And the Christmas dinner was what I looked forward to, a lot. I’d be starting to prep it tomorrow. .

I do agree with not making it take over though, I’m the past I’ve missed done stuff because of being over the stove for hours. I cut it down a lot of the years.

N has done the gifting and wrapping. Food shop on Friday, then my traditional Xmas eve dash to get N's gifts.

Some may think it's crazy leaving it till Xmas eve, but if you know exactly what you want, it doesn't take long and most of the shop assistants are getting in the festive spirit, knowing it's their last day.

Not wrapped. Only have a couple more presents left to order. Fresh food shop at the weekend. My main thing right now is trying to rest and avoid going into hospital.

Christmas will be fine even if not 100% of everything ever is done.

No one asks "are you ready for Christmas?" anymore, because they all got tied up and bundled into a room in the first week of December
