Exactly where I'm meant to be

If you were told you only have a few years left, there is no cure or treatment and you won't hit 50, would you tell people or keep it under wraps?

Probably not, why make anyone else worry. Just make sure all the arrangements are made so loved ones needn't worry about anything.

Depends if they need to know or not.

If it was me? I'd tell Fox. Probably nobody else. It would stress my mother and she's too old for that, my close family have enough shit to deal with in their own lives without me adding to worry, I'm self employed so don't have to tell anyone at work and as for everyone else - why do they need to know?

I wouldn't want anyone changing how they interact with me just because I was going to pop my clogs sooner than expected.

I've always worked on the principle that you should treat everyone nicely (unless they're a cunt and they don't deserve it) all the time as they or you may drop dead tomorrow and you don't want your last conversation to be one you regret when they're gone.

The doctors can be wrong, so would not shout it from the rooftops, but would tell the people important to me. Have a friend who, 5 years ago, was told she had, at best, a year left. 3 years ago, she was told the same. She is still battling the cancer, and still managing to live her life. Positivity, it seems, can pay dividends

One of my friends has done just that, but isn’t living her life any differently that I can tell.

My parents are very elderly, so I guess the same could apply to them.

Mortality, innit? Got to go sometime.

My sisters friend was given 18 months to live 5 years ago. I wouldn't tell anyone unless I started to deteriorate rapidly

The only person who can prepare for death is the dying one. I don't know if I'd tell people or not but from experience I know that knowing gives everyone a chance to complete their business with that person, emotional or otherwise

Nope couldn't stand people treating me differently. If you're a cunt to me in life, at least have the decency to continue being a cunt near death.

Depends. Maybe some close family if I needed support to process the news.

But most people, no.

It does give you a chance to say goodbye to people and you do tend to reassess your attitude towards them slightly

Tell no one, borrow loads of money off banks, spoil my kids, family and mates.

And die in debt.

If I had known my mum was going to die when she did I wouldn't have gone on holiday. I would have spent every day visiting her, drinking tea and chatting about anything that came into our heads.
