"I don't view any profession as more deserving than any other. I especially don't deify individuals for working in a certain profession ...... The NHS and NHS workers are lauded regardless of their personal principles and behaviours. They aren't paid enough , that much is true but that doesn't make throwing money at them the right thing to do. There has got to be major overhaul and a culling of unnecessary admin and other staff, plus a return to tougher entrance to the professions for certain positions. My own experiences in hospitals / walk ins and Dr's Surgeries are of inhuman , indifferent , ineffective conveyor belt style regard for the public. Each time I take my friend to hospital we invariably end up saying ..... Fuck me i'd love this job ' .... cos to be fair we seldom see anyone stressed or even moved to move away from their socialising natter. " In my job (non clinical) we recently took on someone with 10 years NHS experience. They lasted a couple of months, couldn't hack the work levels and lack of hourly breaks.

"No nurse wants to strike and emergency care isn't affected. Planting the seed for the public to turn on them is how the government win. No one should trust what the media put out there, they work for the government too. Anyone who stood on their door steps clapping but have issues with them wanting respectable pay, working conditions and treatment, need to have a look at theirselves."

"If you are doing the maths Obi ...... How much to give EVERY person in the country 20% more... adult that is ..... none of those scrounging schoolies... You have 10 mins to work it out ......Go !" UBI would be more cost effective than the current benefit system and reduce poverty, reliance on food banks and actually would likely reduce the need for pay rise demands, especially in the public sector. The maths you want is impossible to calculate. But the concept of UBI is one that really needs exploring. A

"These people are choosing to risk the lives of your family and friends for greed. Don't forget to clap" Actually, if you look at the detail in the derogations, and the provision of critical care, you may rethink that statement. I support them. I do think the NHS is a cumbersome mess with some horrendous frameworks and mismanagement, but the medical staff stand up to be counted, when it counts. Noone gets it perfect when you manage risk and the human commodity, but they sure as hell try.

"Yes I believe everyone would agree that the nurses should be paid more money. Unfortunately the UK can't afford it as we are paying over £7 millions per day putting illegal immigrants in to hotels! We (the UK) must be the laughing stock of the world !! " Keep lapping up that right wing press.... You do realise that the government (if it wanted to) could overhaul the asylum application processes resulting in a speedier service, reduced cost and more efficient way of dealing with the issue. Ever wondered who all the contracts for accommodation, feeding and servicing immigrants has gone to? Who benefits from all that government spending? I wonder............ A

Regardless of who they are and how much is spent on helping them -THEY are not the cause of societal problems in the UK. It doesn't help anyone to have them demonised and cited as the reason for low pay and cost of living crisis in this country.

" I don't think we can blame our woes on immigrants, but there is a worrying lack of understanding that the nation, like families, have to live within their means.

"I don't support the nurses having pay rise because there's people working on NHS like carers that they receive miserable wages and they are struggling more . If nurses they struggle with cost of living with the wages they have then they should try have a wages of a carer , may would realize what struggling pay bills and food means. " We shouldn’t be racing to the bottom, as this suggests

These are difficult times for everyone and asking for pay rise at this moment in my opinion is a selfish act when in this country there's people working 12h day 5 days a week to take home miserable wages

"These people are choosing to risk the lives of your family and friends for greed. Don't forget to clap" Are they really Harry? My Mrs is a nurse, Band 6, in a trauma operating theatre. They are chronically understaffed. 13 hrs in theatre, 11 off. Same again next day. Wanting a fair day's pay for what is a highly, life threatening stressful environment is not greed mate. They need to keep staff otherwise you and your family will be searching down the back of the sofa to pay for your hospital care. They were heroes according to the nation during Covid.. what's changed now?

There's never a pay rise for me unless I work more (nigh on impossible) or put prices up, which offers no guarantees as doing so may lose existing business. But I fully support the nurses, the rail workers and anyone else chasing a pay rise. These aren't difficult times for everyone. They are for those paid badly, facing demands to make them work under worse conditions and those having to rely on benefit top ups because employers see it as an easy alternative to paying decent wages. Funny how many businesses are seeing huge profits right now, yet have an issue with paying staff over shareholders. A
