"A Morris traveller

A Morris marina

A Ford cortina estate "

Neither of my parents had cars, nor my grandparents.

I'm the first person in my family line to drive and own a car.

Also the first to do an apprenticeship, own a property and get divorced.

Bexley

Renault 16. Quirky looking, large for its day and in a horrible grasshopper green livery.

The only car I ever felt sick riding in, due to its very soft suspension.

Their starters always sounded odd. Had orange headlights as well.

Put me off Renaults (and all French cars) for life.

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

My dad owned a car bodyshop, and also bought and sold cars, too, so we had lots of different cars in the 70s.

The ones that stand out are:

Mark 1 Ford Capri 1.6

Mark 2 Ford Capri 3.0s

Ford Corsair GT

Rover P5B 3.5 V8 Coupè

Sunbeam Rapier Fastback

Reliant Scimitar. thought it was an awful car back then but if you see them today they actually look quite cool.

Recently seen pristine versions parked on the street in Edinburgh, and in a driveway in Oxford. even looks good in the classic 70s "corduroy brown" colour

An estate car. Can't remember the model though, but thought it was a Ford.

I just remembered we had a blue car when I was about 6. Probably another Ford. Possibly a Cortina.

The first one I remember was a ‘77 Ford Mustang… that used to break down everywhere. So stressful

But the most memorable was a VAM Pacer- like the one Garth drives in Wayne’s World. But ours was cherry red. My brother and I used to ride in the back/boot. Seatbelts? What seatbelts?
