A so called sausage expert was exposed as a fool on the Jeremy Vine show for a two sausage taste test. The expert preferred the vegan sausage. Or did he. Vine tricked him. Both sausages were vegan. Now Tom is no expert but he can tell the difference between a good pork sausage and a vegan one. For a start the vegan one will be twice the price ...

I see this clip, it was a taste test not a price comparison, but the sausage expert enjoyed the taste and texture from the vegan sausage,

So the conclusion is vegan sausages are just as good as meaty sausages, but ones healthier and the price relates, the other is cheaper and not as healthy for you, eating less processed meat is the way forwards

Can you remember the brand name of said winning sausage?

Some are surprisingly like the 'real deal'. I can't bear to have Beyond Meat products in my mouth. Too meaty for my liking

It was how emphatic he was that one of then was real tasty meat just like the sausage he'd had for breakfast before finding out they were both vegan that makes it funny.

I don't like making a fool of someone in public. Imagine reversing the situation and giving a commited vegan two meat sausages, then calling them out for not knowing the difference

I think this situation is a bit different. A committed Vegan is morally opposed to animal suffering/slaughter.

This "sausage expert" has gained media exposure by slating vegetarian products and got himself into this situation voluntarily.

I take your point

He won't be doing it again now that Jeremy Vine has shown him how wrong he is.

Tom knows his sausages and would not be fooled..

Anyone describing themselves as a sausage expert is on dodgey ground

I disagree with vegetarians appropriating meat names it is not a sausage it is a vegetable tub.

Just like vegetarian burgers, they are not burgers they are vegetable patties.

I’ve tried vegan sausages. They are awful. But I’m no expert.

I’d love to know the criteria that needs meeting to call yourself a sausage expert!
