Favourite of all time:

Legend of Zelda: A Link To the Past

Following that would be (in no real order):

Portal (and portal 2!)

Mario Kart (the original but also kinda love 7 and 8 too)

Mech Warrior 2 (but played more Mech Warrior 3 and 4 due to online match team play)

Doom (the original on floppy disk!) just because it’s doom!

"Another game that I cant believe hasnt become an actual sport IRL is SPEEDBALL - that game on todays consoles would be fuckin unreal... nevermind the fact that if Brutal Deluxe put an ad on Facebook recruiting for new players I'd be well up for it lol"

Speedball was SO good! It got me out of a metrocross addiction.

I've also wondered how it wasn't made into a sport IRL.

937 S.W.

A ton of great ones mentioned here.

For consoles,

I will agree with MGS and Castlevania SotN. I still have both original copies from the late nineties.

Blood Rayne was a good one.

Earthworm Jim was a riot to play.

Medievil was so much fun to play.

For p.c IL-2 Sturmovik and Panzer Elite along with R6: Rogue Spear and Team Fortress 2.

From arcades back in the day,

Altered Beast, Toobin', Tapper, Paperboy,Operation: Wolf. And who can forget the monstrosity that was the sit in Afterburner.

"And who can forget the monstrosity that was the sit in Afterburner"

Unfortunately a little bit before my time but the old Afterburner cabinet looked so cool.

Sadly I had the commodore 64 conversion of Afterburner, which when compared with the arcade, is not so much 'after the Lord mayor's show', but the Monday evening banquet of leftover ham sandwiches, after the after-party, AFTER the Lord mayor's show. It was stupendously terrible.

Of all time? I can’t really choose!

If I had to choose it would probably be Icewind Dale on the PC. I’ve had it on every platform it’s been available on. That and Baldur’s Gate.

Super Mario World is where gaming peaked. Only beaten by Ocarina of Time. I'm not ashamed to say I've bought them on every platform they've been released on.

Damn! That sucks!

I would rush home, deliver my papers, rush back home, finish my homework and chores then cruise up to the arcade to pump a dollars worth of quarters per play into that damned thing.

Back then, four quarters for one play really had an eleven year old kid pondering the value of a dollar and economics.

Most were a quarter. A few were fifty cents. And then ya had that bastard that WAS the sit in Afterburner.

As the only one amongst my friends who had a paying job,I had a shit ton of buddies who filled out I.O.U.'s. If I had been a better accountant back then, I could probably live off the interest right now.
