Only a couple of months off and I want to run away and hide !

Has anyone else felt this way about a milestone birthday?

Don’t think it helps being single and nearly 50,

Never imagined it tbh

I embraced turning 50, as someone else has said I no longer give a shit about what others think, I’m me. I think it also gives you the confidence to finally be your true self, well for me anyway.

The last milestone birthday I celebrated was my 21st.

Life and circumstances meant that 30 and 40 passed unnoticed.

I knew something had to change when turning 50 and had planned on doing something to celebrate it but when my mum passed away 2 weeks beforehand that was knocked on the head too and it became just another birthday.

Turning 30 was the massive one for me. Once that was out the way I didn't give a flying one about my age. I also became single at 50 (my choice after 26 years) and since then have grabbed life by the balls and am more adventurous and happier than I have ever been before.

Fantastic Forties and Fabulous Fifties! 40 hurt my back but not my spirit. If there is something you don't like change it! You are never too old to learn and implement change.

I'm single and child-free and I try to wring every bit of life out of every day. In the last 12 months 3 people close to me under 45 died....I'm not waiting around to kick the bucket....with any luck I'll die swinging. Lol!

I had no problem turning 30 - positively enjoyed it in fact.

Didn't like 40 as it felt like a number I used to think was really old, but it's not been that bad! 50 feels the same for me now: quite daunting, but sure when I get there it will all be ok!

Easier said than done, but just run with it, OP - what else can we do? But I wouldn't worry at all about being single at 50: there's no "right age" for being in a relationship or not.

Hugs...after 30 I made a point to celebrate every birthday even if I was alone. I made it to Ibiza for club 18-30. the others have been Day Spa, remote Sicily, and the Caribbean. I even managed to escape London for Sicily in 2020 and shared a bottle of prosecco with the other patrons of the hotel restaurant. 40 was a month in the Caribbean. Glorious! Dunno know what I will do for 50 but Cap d'agde looks like fun!

No, never. More aches and pains as you go past your half century. But its worth it.

Embrace every birthday...and think of the people who will never get to celebrate their 50th, 40th, 30th, 21st, 18th...etc

But once I did it was ok!!!

A tip for you: rather than thinking 50 is half a hundred, think of it as twice 25... seems easier to swallow then hahaha

The good thing about turning 50 is you start to care less about what other people think and start living your life more for YOU.

I Did not want to be 50, hated it. I can remember my grandparents at 50, just sat in their armchairs watching TV. I didn't want to be like them. I definitely struggled with it for a few months.

I turned 50 a few weeks back

As most people have said, it’s great, I’ve been single since my late 30s, and while I don’t have anyone to come home to at the end of the day, I also don’t have to answer to anyone, I’m free to do things I want to on a whim

The downside is that it’s harder to maintain more of a social life as everyone else my age is married with kids (they mostly started families in their 30s & 40s so still have childcare to take into account) so getting together is more difficult

My musical partner in crime is lucky in that his wife encourages us to get together to practise & perform so we get to do stuff that gets us out and keeps us busy

And being more of a natural introvert I’m not inclined to be getting myself into situations where I’m going to be meeting loads of people (hence trying to go by myself to socials organised here is hard!!)

I'm nearly there and I feel hideous. I get so many messages from guys younger than me and I just ask them why they are interested in "a fat old lady" like me. Aging has eaten away at the confidence I didn't have much of on the first place, so I'm sceptical when a good looking guy sends me a message, I just assume he sees me as low hanging fruit, desperate for attention due to my age and size, the older I get the more I feel this way when "Mr 6 pack" messages.

I have botox and every cream under the sun, but there's only so much you can do. Turned 48 in October, another year towards the Fab graveyard.

Well your pictures present a confident and sexy woman. And whilst you may be curvy, for many men that’s a big turn on! The many messages you receive won’t be because men see you as “low hanging fruit” but quite the opposite at least that’s from my perspective x
