Is humanity heading for a major lockdown, not because of viruses, It's because the environment needs to be saved.

A 15-minute city is a city that requires minimal travel among houses, parks, offices, restaurants, and schools. Every essential amenity is within a 15-minute walk or cycle. Regardless of whether you live in the centre or in another neighbourhood, each neighbourhood fulfils six social functions: living, working, supplying, caring, learning and enjoying. Essential facilities include:

Work

Shops

Healthcare

Schools

Cultural facilities

Sports and leisure

Parks

from what I've read and listened to on the net. People need to buy a licence of some kind so they can travel within Different regions up to 100 times per year. If you exceed that, you will be fined.

What are your thoughts on this?

Is that not pretty much how things used to be? Most people lived and worked within a 20 minute walk from their house, There were shops at the end of the road as well as schools ect..

I would definitely say there was a better sense of community when people lived, worked and were educated in their very local vicinity.

The license/permit stuff is total bollocks. The actual story is a council revising its planning policy so that people will be able to find most of the amenities they want within a short distance from their homes, so that they do not need to make unnecessary long journeys. Nobody but nutcases are suggesting that there will be barbed wire and checkpoints between different districts!

Seperately, vehicle traffic on some roads within town centres is being restricted in order to reduce pollution. The idea of restricting movement of individuals though is just more crazed fantasy.

Some people need to give their heads a wobble and wake up to the actual problems of the real world, rather than concocting utter wank.

I think this is a good thing because there are quite a few small towns basically that have been built around the area where I used to live but no new infrastructure. People have to drive at least 15 to 20 minutes to get to a supermarket, healthcare or entertainment. One I'm thinking of particularly just outside Winchester doesn't have a bus service or train station within walking distance for the majority of people, Therefore making driving and owning a car pretty much essential.

My thoughts.......

15 minute "cities" are essentially the communities many people lived in a few decades ago, where everything we needed to live was a short distance away.

A return to this way of life would be fantastic, unfortunately I suspect we've come too far forward to return that far back.

I think anything that helps protect our environment is a good idea and do be applauded.

I think the idea "people will need to buy a licence of some kind so they can travel within Different regions up to 100 times per year" is made up bollocks that has fuck all to do with the actual proposal.
