We've all been to those places that people go on about how lovely they are and you go and it's usually full of overpriced boutique shops selling stuff that only people who have a country house and a town house,go skiing three times a year and own horses,can afford to buy stuff in.

Two to start off with.

In the Cotswolds. It is achingly pretty, of course, but rammed with tourists (I was thete for a job interview, so not guilty), and the shops are full of badger-shaped doorstops and artisanal medlar jam.

Then moved to Penge on the other side of London and a not so affluent area and the vibe and people were amazing

Then moved to Penge on the other side of London and a not so affluent area and the vibe and people were amazing "

I went to Richmond upon Thames college and the name we coined for "those people" is spods.

No idea where it came from or what it means but generally it refers to for example a woman who walks around in ski attire wearing one of those furry headbands and drive's daddy's range rover, just to go shopping to Richmond.

I went to Richmond upon Thames college and the name we coined for "those people" is spods.

Lol, yeah was full of them.

I remember shortly after moving me and the ex having a drink in our nearby pub got chatting to a married couple and had a great chat for an hour, until she asked how much we paid for our house. After I said we were renting they popped in to go to the bar and never came back

Don't get me wrong I love the History and the architecture of the place.

But as I have to work there almost on a weekly basis it's got an atmosphere of "we are better than you and we know it"

It's also home to the possibly the worst shopping centre I've ever been to

Oh I love Bourton on the Water! It is heaving with tourists though but the water bit is just perfect for tots to paddle in and duck races. Many, many fond memories

I don't doubt you whatsoever on Alderley Edge, not that I've ever been. I can't despise it, though, because of the blesséd Alan Garner.

Winchester is close to my heart, because of King Alfred, and the Carhedral, and the College, and Keats in the water meadows. My mother was born there, too.

As a man from the slums it saddens me that I now live in this exact town. ( I’d love to move to a more humble setting but I’m not stupid kids have the best possible chance in life around here) But also gives me great pleasure bringing a little bit of common to the party, you should see the looks I get when I talk. Oh I can't despise Alderley Edge. I've had some fantastic dates there. Lovely meals. Beautiful walks. A dear friend lives there. It's a bit much though.

It's all a facade. Scratch the surface and beneath the Betty's, the RHS, and Duchy Avenue is a rough-as-fuck town with a major d*ugs problem. I prefer my towns to be open about their social issues so very rarely go there, unless I absolutely HAVE to.

Lol! Welcome to London. Lol! To be fair I like he more gritty, grungey, grass roots side of London but I do find myself in Chelsea, Kensington and Wimbledon quite often. Putney has lost its poundshop but chic eateries and nail salons are everywhere.

They actually closed the costa coffee on Wandsworth High Street...shock horror. I prefer Caffe Nero. Maybe a Gails will pop up in its stead. Lol! Gails and Waitrose.

Oh dear....I work in a supermarket local to there...I have to remember not to judge when someone walks in a convenience branch in a fur coat and uggs. at 9pm on a Sunday. Lol!

I think Putney has the worst shopping centre. Lol! Best loos apparently but it's easy to keep it clean if no-one goes there. Lol! I hardly buy anything in there because there's nowt in there!

Good God, Man Nero..why on earth do people go there then?

Personally I'm a sucker for a white sand beach so I took a tortuous journey to Sennen/Land's End and I was amused by the fellow Londoners trying to get mobile signal not realizing that the solid granite cliffs were blocking it.

When I went they only had a tackle shop two pubs, a tea room and a posh restaurant with very good scallops.

that's Sennen.

Land's end is the typical tourist trap.

I tend to avoid the shit areas ( including the centre) when I'm playing tourist anywhere. Lol!

My last trip to a Caribbean island and I didn't once go into the main town.

Some of these places are

Cowbridge, Bath and Lymington. They all come under the la di da category.
