We're meant to be going over to Whitehaven tomorrow evening as the backup crew for a small team cycling across to Sunderland.

Its in aid of Help For Heroes and Macmillan Nurses.

My goodness!!!!

That cycle trail was hard enough in good weather - tho we had fantastic views - we did it over 3 days and had a great time.

Wish all your lot well and hope the weather doesnt put too much of a dampner on it xxx

Theres a Marine,Para ex pro Footballer and Fitness Instructor.

They're on about trying to do it one hit!!!

I told 'em we'd put some kayaks on the roof of the van, just in case of a change of plan.

In one hit

Defo take the Kayaks - be easy going down hill, lol

Hope they have a good time

I had a sore arse and sore legs after those 3 days - but fond memories and lack of photo's.

One girl went to hospital going too fast down one of the hills, but none of us were fit - we all just did it for charity.

Well, further to the Charity Bike Ride, they did it!!!

Set off from Saint Bees beach car park (couldn't get to Whitehaven) at 6.30am Sat,got to Roker Pier,Sunderland

20hrs 59minutes later.

It was wind, rain and darkness most of the way too.

Three cyclists competed, one poor guy got 15 miles from the finish but had to pull out with borderline hypothermia.

He was soaked, shivering uncontrolably, could hardly speak etc,so got the foil blanket treatment.

He was gutted but did brilliantly when you consider he hadn't trained and just borrowed a bike for this event.

The two to finish were a Marine Reservest who has seen action in Iraq and Afganistan and an ex Para,so there was a question of honour I think .

Anyway, they've raised a fair amount of cash for Help For Heroes and Macmillan Nurses.

Well done lads!
