Dating as a parent.

So, I’ve been speaking to someone ( not for that long ) & although they’re trying to be friendly, they are sending me photos of themselves and their child.

Like I brought up my discomfort in seeing images of her child, so soon.

Am I wrong to think, like if I was to ever send a photo to someone I’m talking to relatively new.

1) I wouldn’t have a picture of my child

2) if my child was in the photo, by any chance. Id have them blurred out?

Some people identities are inextricably linked with being a parent. Maybe they’re doing in (possibly subconsciously) on purpose to out those who don’t like that

No I wouldn’t show anyone pictures of my child unless I started a relationship with them and even then not right away.

I'm so uncomfortable with this. Every time I see a photo on here with a child's photo clearly visible on the mantelpiece in the background, I report it (and message the person).

So many people are willing to splash their kids' faces (and bodies) everywhere. No privacy, no consent, no holds barred, everything for everyone to see. OP, you're well within your rights to feel uncomfortable. When I was on dating sites, for me it was an automatic rejection for anyone displaying under 18s in their photos without blurring/editing. Totally unnecessary and inappropriate.

IMO - Sharing photos your children on a sex site, is totally inappropriate.

If you get to number swapping stage and chat on a personal messenger, then not so bad…. But it rings all kinds of alarm bells for me!

Where the flamboyance of flamingos live

I can understand you feeling uncomfortable OP

I was another dating site and I would see so many male profiles with pictures of their children. In the early stages of dating it’s about getting to know that person and then if things progress is the time to introduce the children.

I think some people just don’t connect with what they’re doing. A bit like I see people post clothed innocent enough pics of them with their animals on here too sometimes and I immediately message them and gently suggest they delete them (as well as report them). They should be hyper vigilant, of course, but it’s an odd place, this.

There was a thread recently posted by a guy who’d arrived to a woman’s house who’d had childcare drop out last minute and when he walked in, her child was sat there - he left immediately and all credit to him.

Possibly depends on the photo?... Legs akimbo in bed. Then clearly no child should be pictured too... Quick snapped pic of 'I'm very tired! On the school run...(half seen kids in back of car?).. Less a worry

No. No no no. I hate when men do this and it's not something I'd ever do myself. No photos, no names, no personal or identifying information. I'm forever seeing men's selfies on here where there are really clear, identifiable photos of their children right behind them. It shows a mindless lack of regard for their safety or privacy.

So many men on the conventional dating apps also have photos where they're with their child or a sibling or friend's child - gross!
