This yes a whinge . The road I live in is used a lot by driving instructors . Plus the driving test examiners.

When I took my test many years ago . Yes roads less busy .

Now in the past week on several times coming home or trying to leave my house . I and my next door neighbours have dropped curbs and gates. Been blocked from either getting into or out our our driveways.

One instructor who, yes I did have a go at. I waited as in front of me was a learner driver trying to go past this vehicle. As learner was doing reversing . Learner reversed into my drive way dropped curb area . Learner in front of me went past . Then vehicle that had reversed moved forward , stopped and was going to reverse again. I had moved forward to get into position to reverse into my property. Instructor was waving me to go past as , yet I had indicator on showing I wanted to go into left

I actually got out of my car. Instructor said I should wait as he was explaining about reversing and parking

and I should wait? I have counted over ten driving school cars in my road as coming home.

I was taught if dropped curb . Do not block , park as access .

My thought is now there are many drivers who do not know highway code etc if instructors do not adhere to highway code.

Could you complain to the individual driving school of the test centre of they're blocking access to your house

From the highway code. It is a sort of gray area . As yes says do not do in highway code. Trouble is getting enforced. Seems to me. You yes need photographic evidence and then have to report to local authority to get them to enforce if they think offence committed ?

It's only an offence to block a driveway if doing so blocks access to the public highway. In other words, if there are no cars on the drive, they are not committing an offence as they are not preventing egress.

It's not even an offence for them to park IN your driveway, they are not breaking any laws. It could however be construed as "anti social behaviour" if it is causing a general nuisance in the street. If talking to the driving instructors\examiners doesn't help, you could report it as antisocial behaviour and ask that they intervene.

It is the attitude of the instructors from speaking to several of them. The road I live in has no thru traffic etc. Apart from residence and delivery drivers. So most weekdays free of traffic. Plus as I said part why examiners use road also. It is odd. When I learnt to drive. I got a bollocking from my instructor for although he said to do a reverse manoeuvre into a dropped curb area . Plus stated on test would have points deducted for doing. Should know not to do as stated in highway code. ?

As said its anti social behavior dont get pic evidence use video evidence.

Theres nothing you can do about it, if im honest its the same thing with parking on the road.

You dont own the road infront of your house so anyone can park there.

if you have a phone camera it does take videos as well so use it.

you need to prove that your area is inundated with learning vehicles.

i agree that people need to learn but when they start to hinder or swarm into the area and do it its annoying.

Something like the school runs where users drop there children off and dont care about the residents.

its the same and council set up road wardens and ticket drivers.

The Highway code says you should "not stop or park where the kerb has been lowered to help wheelchair users and powered mobility vehicles, or where it would obstruct cyclists except when forced to do so by stationary traffic", but this is different to the dropped curb that gives you vehicular access to your driveway. Also "Should not" is different to "Must not", which helps to create ambiguity within the rule.

In the case of these driving instructors, they are not doing anything illegal but their behaviour "could" be construed as anti-social.

It "should" be illegal to obstruct access to someone's driveway, it should also be illegal to park in other peoples driveway without their permission... but it currently isn't.

It is an offence to park across a dropped kerb which can result in a parking ticket.
