Unsettled argument since days began

It’s a cake surely because cakes go hard when left and biscuits go soft?? I stand my ground on this argument

Yep. All true.

Biscuits are subject to VAT, but cakes aren’t… so HMRC took McVities to court on the grounds that they were sized and sold in packets similar to biscuits so therefore should be treated as such…

My logic too....if it's on the biscuit aisle it's a biscuit. Also they are put in biscuit jars.

It's what they do when they go stale. Cakes go hard, biscuits go soft. As stale Jaffa cakes are as hard as nails I think that speaks for itself.

. Because they identify as biscuits. Also a Jaffa is an orange, so are other flavoured ones such as lime/lemon strawberry etc still called Jaffa cakes... it defies logic

The missing and really sad context is that chocolate coated biscuits are considered a luxury item (I assume plain are essential foods) and are charged VAT, whereas chocolate coated cakes are not.

Hence the reason it went to court..they made a bit one. They also argued a key point is that cakes go hard when stale whereas biscuits go soft.

Right....I assume youve all now cum...so my work here is done.
