Cats and freezing temperatures

My cat has stayed out today from 6.30am until just now.

Is it normal for them to be able to withstand such freezing temperatures? Or is she just crazy

Oh and she only came in to eat and then had gone back outside

They have a built on winter coat. Perfectly normal. X

Our cat will happily sit outside in all weathers but will also sleep in the conservatory in 40°

Cats are quite hardy but if they get wet in cold weather they can die.If you have a catflap so she can come and go she should be fine

Nice to hear you allow a cat to be a cat and no one of many owners who think a cat should be locked up in a house

Cats are assholes who will do what they want- if they get too cold they’ll just put a brick through your window to get in, then whinge about the draught and why their food is not the right temperature

Ours has to be booted out of the door in this weather, else the lazy sod just sleeps and eats. Doesn’t sound like a bad life

She might be going into someone elses house. I have a cat that visits most days and does that with me if cold. I don't feed her though.

Cats are pretty savvy. They'll find somewhere to hole up when it's cold. Mine used to go over to the allotments behind me and make a nest of wood shavings and snuggle into it and watch the chickens all day. They have a cat flap but neither of them will go out in the winter now that they're a bit elderly - they like their home comforts too much

It’s a well known fact that cats (and dogs) were unable to exist in the wild due to the cold and were only created once central heating was invented.
