"I wouldn't be annoyed if it was my 2. If they both have the work ethic to be working Christmas Eve and Day then good on them. Its just a day and plenty of other opportunities i'm sure to all be together. Oh and old at 38. Please!! " I feel old thats for sure

"I would be proud that your child is working Christmas Day. That shows commitment and good morals." I am extremely proud. My 17 year old is a chef, and my 18 year old is currently front of house in a local pub / restaurant. They both attend full time college aswell, so I think I am more upset that they dont seem to be getting a rest period over Christmas, but thats just a sign they are growing up I guess.

" Why not do Christmas Day on Boxing Day if they are both off work then? Would that possibly work? It'll be strange for you on Christmas Day, it's certainly strange for us Mum's when our children grow up.

"I think kids need to learn very early they can say no and they can choose who and where they give their labour too. I taught mine to think of themselves as paid volunteers If they are are working Christmas day it should be because the company treats them so good and values them so much they want to help. " Saying no is important I agree, but in rural Wales there are so many people looking for work with very few jobs available that it wouldnt be hard for the businesses to just say "you are too awkward" and move on to the next person wanting work. I agree they shouldnt be taken advantage of, but in todays climate, work is work. Juat my opinion

"I regularly had to work 12hr shift days and nights xmas eve/day and New year eve and day. The office was a 24/7 operation monitoring methane engines on landfill sites. Was hard when my son was young, but just celebrated together on different days. " I may have to do that. Find out a day they are both home and celebrate then with the younger 2 aswell.

"When I worked in the pub I used to work all over Christmas and new year and bank Holidays. I bloody loved it it was socialising while getting free drinks bought you But I was a lot younger then and had no kids" We aren't allowed to have drinks bought for us due to the kitchen staff helping themselves at the end of the night and conveniently not having their bank card so paying for it tomorrow. Tomorrow never came but 4 bottles of JD went. So now we're a dry house for staff and you're not even allowed to purchase a soft drink. We can accept cash tips tho.

"Yeah I'm working a double shift. It's a sign of the times isn't it. Used to be only the emergency services and farmers that worked Xmas day when I was a kid (from memory at least) but now it's anyone who sees potential income. Family isn't deemed important anymore by employers, and they question why mental health issues are on the rise. You don't feel valued as an employee working in hospitality, coz part of you wants to be shown you're important by them closing for 1 fucking day of the year. But they won't, coz on that 1 day of the year they are pretty much printing money." What would be the general public reaction over there if pubs etc... did close? They never open here just wondering is there a big tradition of heading to a local Christmas day?

We have a lot of the same faces for Xmas day dinner. However, I'd be pretty surprised if they would be resentful or angry if we closed, allowing staff to spend time with their own families.

"I am a farmer, which means we dont often get time off but we have always tried our best to make sure the animals are seen to really early so we can be in and spending the entire day with the kids. This year though my 17 year old has told me she is working Christmas eve (we traditionally spend this eating ice cream sundaes and watching films together) and my 18 ywar old has told me she is working Christmas Day! An 11 - 6 shift aswell. I am disappointed and abit annoyed about it all to be honest as it is the one day we all get to spend together. It atleast means the 2 younger kids get a bit more attention on them. I guess it is the sign of the times though, my kids are growing up and at just 38 I officially feel old" Hopefully your daughter is getting double time for working Christmas Day..boom..!!! I’m off this year for a full 7 days but unfortunately working all through next year due to how the rosta is falling..all good though..double time too

"Sky, I take my hat off to you farmers. You're probably the hardest workers of all possible jobs. Well done. X" Thank you. I love it so sont see it as a job, but do sometimes wish I could have more free time
