Where do you sit when you're at the cinema

Winchester

It can be awkward when you take a new friend/lover to the cinema and you want to sit front middle and they want to go back row.

Where is your favourite place to sit, I like to have all of the toilet frequenters and phone users behind me so I go 5 rows from the front

Not been for a while but I try and not block others views due to my height. I try and stretch out in a specific row of seats so can sit low down.

Screen 2 ) The main we sit 4 rows up the front 3 seats in

Screen 1) 3rd from the top 2 seats in

Screen 7) Middle row one sofa along.

Unless we are all alone then we take up two sofa in the back row.

Most cinemas you have to pre-book seats now, so that saves all the standing around deciding where to go (though some dickheads still do this).

Me, I always go middle halfway back from the screen.

Used to get the BFI magazine and reading the résumé was a lot simpler than watching the films.

Used to like middle of the row and right at the back. But nowadays they always leave the ceiling lights on, which are quite bright and quite close to you when on the back row. So now tend to prefer in the middle about two thirds the way up.

My local cinema has reclining seats as standard, which means no risk of back or seat being kicked, and even if you have someone next to you then you still have sufficient arm room to not be playing 'armsies'. So that means only need to worry about optimum visual and audio experience, which for me is mid screen and as far back as possible. Many of the screens have the stairs in the middle which means optimum position is actually mid seat in the back row. And that's definitely not one to be sitting in if you're with a naughty, playful friend!!

Congratulations on predating my visit to a cinema in Leicester Square to see Pink Floyd's "The Wall".

Not only have I not been to a cinema since then but also have not deliberately watched films on TV etc for some considerable time. I don't have the required attention span.

I used to receive the BFI Sight and Sound magazine at work and found that reading the film résumés was normally much easier than sitting through the real thing. Only took a fraction of my valuable time in comparison. I still gained a lot of film knowledge doing it that way!

Now, when a film gets mentioned on here, I can look it up on Wikipedia. That saves ever having to watch it!
