Christmas ain’t the same.

I don’t switch the radio on. I’ve not yet bought a Christmas themed food/drink. I’ve not watched a Xmas film. The best I’ve got for getting into the Christmas spirit is changing my profile picture here and I bought a few presents.

Anyone else just not feeling it? Will I even enjoy this one. I miss my kids.

I keep thinking I've done fuck all for it and then realise that it doesn't need to be over the top and that my kids will love whatever I do and prompt me on whatever things I forget.

I don't really do Christmas on the years they're at their dads (until they come home) as in reality is just another day and I'll treat it however is fitting.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, make Christmas what you need it to be not what society tells you it should be x

By now I'm usually excited and listening to Christmas music in the kitchen.

I've been so ill I'm not feeling anything.

I am starting to panic that I'm getting behind on the shopping and wrapping up and I'll have a mad rush in the last week.

I hate rushing.

I'm not feeling it yet, we put the tree up last night but that turned into stress with the kids pulling all the stuff off, I think as it gets a bit closer the Christmas spirit will hopefully kick in.

Dreading it.

Been told what I am and what I’m not allowed to get the kids by the ex yet both of them have asked me for things that are on the “Not allowed list”.

Guess the ex will be disappointed for Christmas..

Just hoping I get to see my babies and have some quality time with them and they’re happy with what I’ll sort out for them.

Times aren’t easy for easy right now.

Any chance we can postpone Christmas for a month or two?

Just a thought.

Perhaps we can start a petition to send to the North Pole…

Same as.

Being a single guy isn’t so great at various times of the year…

Still. I can probably get away with a microwave curry for dinner and the tv if my choice.

It's just one day. Times are hard for many people. Kids and adults need to remember this.

All this keeping up with the Facebook neighbours shit has gone too far. Fuck the elves and photos of 3,000 presents people post on SM!!

I get really upset by posts like this. Christmas is all about the kids. I would never tell my ex what they could or couldn’t buy unless someone else has already got it. For many years we still bought a joint big present. They always see the ex on the day too. I know I’m probably in the minority though

Went to a Christmas Victorian Fayre at the weekend and watched Elf so it’s starting to kick in.

I’ll be putting a tree up this weekend with the kids and hopefully that make it feel a bit more real.

But I’m not going overboard this year…only buying for my kids and myself and C will get each other a little something.

Then that’s it…haven’t ordered any special meats, no big extravagance.

Myself and C have weekly/monthly treats - we’ve stayed in so many hotels this year and been to so many events - we don’t need a day to show how much we care for each other.

Don’t worry OP…your kids will know how much you are there for them.

Been there. If its any help at all. Ignore the unreasonable ex demands. I had an ex that was the same and to avoid hassle I always acceded to her demands. I regret it now and should have done it differently.

I'm not feeling it at all. I already had some dread, thinking of the first Christmas without my mum. Now I've got to add my brother into the mix.

If it wasn't for my daughter I'd be doing fuck all. I'm just not in the mood. And the thought of spending it with my partners family being all lovey dovey happy families is making me cry. I know I'm lucky to have that, but it just hurts too much at the moment.

We live with them so we can't escape unfortunately.

My brothers funeral could be the week of Christmas, so I might see how long I can stay in Manchester. At least that way I don't have to deal with big family parties and get togethers.

Absolutely understandable. I know it's their Xmas too and if anything recent events may make them want to be close to family and friends, not to take anything for granted, but I do hope they are mindful and compassionate with how they celebrate this year.

Oh she’s not buying them presents.

She’s taking them in a holiday in the summer.

She won’t have glittery toys, slime toys, or arts and craft gifts that could make a mess.

Another thing is musical instruments.

My youngest asked for a guitar last year and a recorder for her birthday.

I haven’t seen them again since…..

Basically, on top of that it’s an no to anything that takes up any space in their room.

Suggested I buy them gift vouchers for the games on their tablets.

They’re two girls of 10 and 8 and they love all the craft stuff and make up and outdoor toys along with dolls and all sorts.

All of that stuff is on the prohibited list.

If I get them anything that she doesn’t approve of, it has to stay with me and that breaks my heart because they wanna take things home with them after they see me for Christmas.

Ex’s really suck.

And not in a good way…..
