Thieves have tried removing so called artwork on a Kiev wall that has been attributed to Banksy. What the hell would they do with it? And since when has cleaning graffiti been a crime..?

It's all over the news

I don't know but some people just stash it. The Russian state has a whole stash of looted German art hidden away that it can't/won't display or acknowledge it has. And now Russia has a whole load of Ukrainian art and museum pieces it's looted and rustled away to Russia. My point is sometimes art is just stollen and hidden (potentially forever).

I’d imagine they’d try and sell it as his work can fetch millions.

As for why cleaning of said ‘graffiti’ is a crime, it’s because Banksy’s artwork is Art, not criminal damage.

In most nations around the world, even some backwards nations, his art and others’ is protected.

Possibly due to the tourism and wealth it can bring a property owner / local area
