I call it fanny blindness.

I've been called out by a few on here for challenging comments by women and couples or for giving a whataboutery response.

The lack of balance in some threads is very obvious but ignored by those who have an agenda.

There is a fab rule that says if you wish to pass or avoid a woman or couple on one of those kiss fuck avoid threads you must do it silently and never out loud.

I have passed on a few over the years and could almost feel the collective intake of breath on the forum before the nasty digs started by their minions and hangers on.

It seems it's a little too much for those who preach equality to actually practice it and treat everyone as equals.

It's always funny to scroll from the bottom of a thread and know exactly who is offended before their name appears.

I didn't read the comment on the other thread but they are entitled to their opinion.

I have seen hundreds of similar comments by women on threads started by men about breakups or relationship difficulties. I've even seen them on mental health threads where the man is told to "man up" but they never get pulled for being insensitive or just pig ignorant.

It's also typical that the comments above have assumed the op is the male half of the couple almost as if his other half couldn't possibly have said that.

Yes I've seen it over and over on here. I've seen a man post a thread one day and get ripped to shreds by people on here both men and women. The very next day a woman posted an almost identical thread and the reaction was the opposite,in fact some who had ripped the guy apart on his thread were full of sympathy for the woman. It made me roll my eyes a lot but when I mentioned the hypocrisy of the replies I was ignored.

It's the way fab has always been and unfortunately it won't change. And half the ones who say they treat everyone the same are hypocrites because they don't. In a lot of people's eyes on here women can do no wrong and are always a victim ( which is far from the truth at times they can be very vindictive and nasty in their actions on here especially away from the public eye) and men are always wrong .( Some men are complete cockwombles but there are a lot are decent guys on here who don't deserve to be talked down to or ripped apart if they give their opinion on something ). As for the ones who white knight at every opportunity well they are just sad and I wonder if it ever actually works for them.

But I guess it's fab it won't change and those threads are great for seeing who to just avoid.

I've never heard of a list but I've seen the fallout and consequences when both men and women cross swords with certain individuals and are then subject to written and verbal abuse from other profiles they have never engaged with up to that point.

There have even been open threats on the forums about not crossing one woman because "girls talk" and they will make you life a misery.

It's like most things on here. You will only see what you want to see but once you know the culprits the pattern is very obvious.

I come here to relax, have a bit of good humuroured banter, find some useful info sometimes and share one or two points on topical things as well as obviously meet genuine people if that happens.

I ignore the so called cliques, the negative attitude of some people, the bias that is so obvious, the cringey behaviour of some people to side with the opposite sex, even when so obviously inappropriate to do so, the fact that people's comments are ignored but seconds later the same comment by one of the so called 'popular members' gets undivided attention, the narcissistic and sycophantic behaviour of so many on here and of course the disgraceful and abusive behaviour of some towards others including individuals as was the case in a thread last night that totally appalled me.

None of those things matter to me really as I ignore it unless is abusive towards an individual. There are lots of decent people on here behaving the same way I would expect people to behave in real life and I enjoy interacting with those or just reading their contributions. The rest can continue to make total fools of themselves.

We can’t mansplain. We can’t stalk. We can’t sexualise. We cant…. You get the idea. Mostly overeating to something where men are just trying to get a woman’s attention.

I'll always give the same response regardless of the gender of the OP.

Does gender influence responses? Yes. But I'd suspect if you look closer at who's replying you'll see more of a pattern. Men who don't post frequently will often use a forum post as a means of currying favour with a woman or a couple, particularly if message filter prevent then from ever sending a PM. Forum 'regulars' will also treat posters differently depending on if they're in the current 'in crowd' or not. Women will traditionally be harsher on single guys over their fellow women, but not if it's someone going against the train of thought of the female majority. Single men will also often see an opportunity to put down fellow males as a mechanism to show they're 'one of the good guys', 'not like other men' and 'a proper swinger'.

I think gender plays a role in who replies and how posts are phrased.

But I don't think it's influenced as much as the personal motivation behind ant reply to thread.

I can't answer for the op but it's a little like women complaining about getting too many of the wrong sort of messages and when they are advised to use their filters the response is "why should we have to?"

I spend one whole hour of my day on fab, often less, and don't use any other part of the site apart from the forums.

It may well be entertaining and hilarious at times but that doesn't stop me calling out hypocrisy or those who delight in the validation they receive for creating a them and us mentality.

Yep, it has happened since the forums were a thing. I call it when I see it because I can't stand the double standards.

Same when threads are started by 'lesser mortals' and tone of replies are based around whether their face fits or not.....A more established forumite will start a rinse account the others follow.... then in other threads the 'be kind' is used by the same people. Also hypocrisy, I've seen people dig at the cheaters while having a couples profile with a married person. People see what they want too and their narrative changes depending on who posts

I don't start very many threads and those I do start rarely if ever hit double figures in replies.

I'm ok with that because they are always light-hearted so there's never an issue.

However over the years a few original threads I did start were plagiarised by some of the popular folk and hit 175 comments within a day.

Nothing to complain about you might say but when it was done within an hour of my post and the thread title and op were word for word I have to assume that someone's ego was a little bruised.

When a popular male fabber who is often classed as being in the upper echelons but no longer with us for whatever reason decides he has to do exactly as described above 3 or 4 times in the same week it really does show how needy some people really are.

One guy allegedly told to man up on a mental health thread, ergo people suck up to women but not men on them? I’ve never seen anyone told to man up on a serious mental health thread and if I did, I know I’d stick my oar in on whoever said it.

One user finds out there’s some external chat group with voting on who can talk to who (?!?) ergo everyone is backsniping and in one clique or another? Weird how I’ve never been invited to join any, guess I’m already voted off?

For every time you see some shithousery (and it does exist, certainly) by a man/woman/couple on here, don’t just go “aha! See I told “they” all do this” and start perpetuating a stereotype that may not exist. Instead think of all the times that other men/women/couples *didn’t* do that, and you’ll find that this is by far the bigger number, usually on the same thread for that matter.

The forum isn’t like piss in your beer, where 5 drops in your pint ruins it all. If you feel it is, nothing will ever fix it until the entirety of humanity evolves to not have some pricks.

A woman in a couple started a thread one day inviting men to speak out about mental health issues and asking why they felt they couldn't discuss problems they were having.

The thread was removed due to the number of people telling the men who were brave enough to post that they were weak and rather than whinging on a swingers site they should leave and get help.

In regards to the chatgroups I'll let you take a look around and ask why there are so many high profile fabbers who are either no longer on the site or aren't able to post on the forums?

Speak to people who know some of them off site and those chatgroups are no longer figments of peoples imaginations.

It's easy to avoid negativity and those who crave drama but not so easy if you are living rent free in their heads and they can't resist the opportunity to have a dig every time you post on the forums out of pure jealousy.

This profile exists because we both have a lot in common as singles and want to explore further as a couple. It's is also sticking two fingers up at those who have tried so hard over the last couple of years to end our friendship.

Problem with this is some people, not the majority but done, will call out white knighting and simping of every instance of a guy calling out another guy. I call out plenty of guys on here, not once has it increased my chances of a shag and never has it been the intention. Sometimes those guys are just cocks, and anyone should be allowed to say so.

True, the most annoying part is when you criticise someone legitimately and they just say you’re being a white knight as it’s a simple insult that means they don’t actually have to confront the criticism.

If I could get an achievement like on PlayStation for every time I’ve been called it, I’d wear them with pride. It’s the fab version of being called a snowflake, you know that once you’ve been called it, the other guy just ran out of argument and checked out of being worth reading.

There's a big difference between genuinely agreeing with someone or calling someone out on what they say and the white knighting that goes on. And yes people throw it out as an insult if they get pulled sometimes when it's obviously not white knighting.

To me a white knight is someone who comes in agrees with women no matter how nasty and out of order they have been on here. They put other guys down if they dare to disagree with a woman over anything on here. They go on about how women need to be saved from all the nasty men on here while making sure everyone knows they are not one of those men (while the truth couldn't usually be farther from the truth in some instances). To me that is white knighting and it happens quite a bit on here.

My observation is threads tend to go in the direction of the first few posts. Once a "norm" is established ppl don't tend to go against it.

For example, I've seen posts on school girl fancy dress go both ways. But rarely does one thread have a sensible balanced discussion.

I suspect MH threads are similar. Plus other topics (cheating, age gaps etc)

Now, there may be a gender bias in how those first posts go for sure. But there's a risk that we select the examples we want to see.

And on the chat groups... From what I've been told, these are more bad around areas (I'm told Ireland is bad) or clubs. Just remember the forum is a small percentage of fab. It's unlikely that you will be blacklisted from real meets. And tbh if I am blacklisted by someone becaise o offered up an alternative option to their mate... Then I don't want to meet them. And am grateful they are saving my time by blocking me.

The problem with threads like this is that even though a number of women and couples are in complete agreement that there is a forum imbalance some will only see it as another whinging thread by rejected or unsuccessful men.

That's usually how the narrative plays out when the status quo is challenged.

Too few women and couples mean that some of the guys will do anything to get their attention. It’s laughable that they’ll then think that suddenly they become more desirable afterwards.

I’ve commented on threads a woman makes the same comment and she’ll get replies, why not, they want to shag her not me. Either way I made my point.

When it comes down to cliques and groups I have no doubt there’s friends on here who look out for each other, I do. I certainly will back up some of my friends, admittedly only when I agree with them, so I suspect that’s all it is.

There’s always going to be ‘white knighting’ on the site , but I suspect very few of these guys will get a shag from it.

For example, I've seen posts on school girl fancy dress go both ways. But rarely does one thread have a sensible balanced discussion.

I suspect MH threads are similar. Plus other topics (cheating, age gaps etc)

Now, there may be a gender bias in how those first posts go for sure. But there's a risk that we select the examples we want to see.

I will go against the grain of a thread if I disagree with what's being said even if I am the only one. I do think often it is not necessarily the gender of the poster but the wording of the post that causes issues. You can have 2 very similar scenarios however the way they are worded are very different which means you will get different responses.

Every post I have seen on these forums about flashing whether by women or men have had people saying it shouldn't be done unless everyone is consenting. The only people that normally agree this is acceptable for a woman is men.

Women are normally the ones that reach out on those kind of posts, As a woman I would be reluctant to reach out to a man I had never met offering help and support. Men need to start helping and supporting each other.

You are twisting my words I did not say that. They said as a woman I would be more likely to reach out to another woman and maybe men should consider doing the same to other men. I have reached out to men on here who have been having a difficult time and unfortunately more often than not it has turned out to be a way of them trying to get to meet which has put me off.

Differently doesn't necessarily mean better. There is definitely hypocrisy I'm not denying that but I don't believe that this is solely based on the gender of the person posting. I think you have hit the nail on the head I think it more has to do with their popularity.
