I just wanted to take a quick poll about people's showering habits. When soaping up do you leave the shower on or turn it off?

Given the current economic situation I decided it would be a good idea to turn it off. However, I soon realised that trying to turn the tap back on with soapy hands is nigh on impossible so hastily gave up!

Wouldn't it be just as or more wasteful to turn it off then wait for the water to heat up?

I leave it on. My shower is programmed to run for no more than 5 minutes at a time; I'm always in and out in less than that, which is why I don't turn it off.

If I turn it off, the timer starts again and it's easy to loose track of how long I've been in; my accumulated shower on time could then run over 5 minutes.

Takes ages to get to the right temp, so I don’t touch the tap once I get in. Love a good soaping under a hot shower!

The shower is right next to the cylinder so no real lag on heat up time. I do have the last 2 min of my shower icy cold though. Brrr, invigorating

I bath all the time, a good soak with radox to destress the muscles and fill the house with a yummy smell. Shower between but I have a big enough shower I can just step out of the water to soap up, then back under again.

I wet my whole body then turn away from the shower head to soap my front, while the hot water is on my back. Then I turn around and while my front is rinsing I scrub my back with shower cream on the scrubber.

Then I rinse my back as I scrub my feet with the scrubber.

Then I take the shower hose down and rinse off my undercarriage and under my boobs.

Although I still have hair on my head, it's quite short and fairy maintenance free, a very quick shampoo and I'm done; a wash and go without using Wash and Go.

We don't have a shower at home but when on holiday i use a shower and leave it on because it often takes ages to get to the right temp again.

However in 12 days time we are (finally) getting a walk in shower fitted, i'm so excited because i struggle to get in and out my bath, due to limited mobility.

There will be a grab bar plus a seat fixed to the wall, it folds up aswell. Sooooo pleased

I can't believe all you people leave it on. I turn it off as soon as I'm wet, then turn it back on when I'm all soaped up. So that's 1 minute for it to warm up, 30 seconds for getting wet, then another 1 minute to rinse off.

But, I have the water heated by gas, so once it's up to temperature, it stays there. I also have a thermostatically controlled shower, so I never have to worry about temperature fluctuations.

I turn it off as it's a digital shower, so it holds it's set temperature for a certain amount of time. Once soaped, turn it back on and voila
