How come, if you delete sent messages the older ones move back up but not when you delete received messages?

Unfortunately there is no consistency with how messages behave. Even saved ones dissappear or just show part of the message history etc. etc. Also I have messages from years ago showing but then more recent ones disappearing. It is what it is, as that famous philosopher said
