Was told at the beginning of my career to drop my accent, and that only country bumpkins speak Welsh and to drop it. Needless to say I didn't.

"Because the fact it still exists and it’s central to community life in many parts of Wales represents a failure on the part of the powerful (including powerful Welsh people) to eradicate it over the centuries.
