Gateway to the Beacons

As many of you who use the forums will know recently I attended a social but left after a short time due to an anxiety attack. I had loads of messages etc after that post many saying to not let it stop me attending others. One was from the lovely organiser of the Bridgend and Newport socials asking if I was free to attend the upcoming Bridgend social.

I umed and arred making internal excuses as to why I couldn’t go, I put that inner critic to one side and said yes I could go.

So last night after a shower n shave I got sorted and drove to Bridgend to the social, as soon as I got there the host greeted me and sat and talked, I chatted and had a laugh with a number of people during the night and stayed until the end.

Thank you to all of you that chatted and put my inner excuses to the back of my mind.

Thank you to Mrs K (l) for inviting me see you all at the next one and at Newport on the 17th oh and Blackwood on the 15th

Not all that North of North London

Love reading this post, particularly after your other threard and the fact you were struggling.

It demonstrates perferctly the importance of being honest about mental health but also why we should never underestimate the power of kindness

Now you've done it it should be easier to keep doing it.

I have debilitating anxiety, and know just how it can affect you.

Don't let your head rule your life, is what I say to myself.

You're got to go to know!

I went to a large one in April on my own as a single guy with much anxiety about standing a corner etc (which I *did* do some of, to be fair). I didn't have a great time (it was alright tho!), and I got a mild kicking on here for saying so (weird..), but I'm so glad I went and I would go to another and have a better time now I have that experience tucked under my belt.

Hope the next one for you is even better.

Anxiety is horrible, i suffer, and always have done. Ive been told its all in our heads, which is rubbish. Anxiety is a form of mental health, not something we make up
