...scroll past selectively?

Do admit please- how often do you catch yourself skimming through comments and just seeking out those who catch your eye? Or are you one of those who read threads thoroughly once they decide to open a particular post?

I think I'm more of a skimmer. A post have to be particularly tickling my curiosity or entertaining to dedicate myself to returning to it and following comments one by one.

How about you?

T.

Ps. I will read all the comments here

It depends on the thread.

If its a jokey type one I will skim and look for bits I can use.

If its a serious topic I tend to read them all, but will skim some bits.

If its a topic near to my heart I read it all

Sometimes with serious ones they can take a lot of your heart-space when you try to empathise, or share something very intimate. Kudos for following those throughout. I sometimes back out when I cannot give enough (at least not what I think the thread deserves?).

I try and read it all it can help get the context & see what others have wrote.

If it’s less serious I’ll use skim through and see what friends have said in it

I am definitely a skimmer. I will read a few but if the thread is miles long I will mostly skim.

This reminded me. I skim or back out of those with long reply and quote comments ongoing. It's too tedious at times unless you already participate in it !

My favourite threads result in my reading the entire lot, as well as returning.

Too much copying and pasting of excessively long texts, reduces my will to sustain focus/the will to live.

Long threads that don't have great interest to me, I read a little, post and exit. I may skim, I may not.

If it’s reasonably interesting or different, then I will do what I’m doing here, read the initial comment, pretty much ignore all the replies, post my reply then maybe never look again. If it’s one of those inviting swapping winks or pics or stuff like that I will scroll quickly down and see if there are any women on the thread I want to interact with. Very very rarely I will actually get drawn into a discussion, normally about books, or some particularly contentious issue but then I get riled up and just walk away.

Depends on the thread. If people have taken the thread over with chat shite that should be on their Kik groups then I just close it.

I mostly read the last comment and the first.

And sometimes reply to whichever feels more appropriate.

I rarely read any of the bulk, and definitely don’t if it’s anything over a large amount of replies. 100+ etc

No I don’t do that - I like interacting with everyone

I read through and then when I find that someone else has said what I was going to say I tend not to respond then and just read through to see how it progresses.

I'll read most of a thread I'm interested in, unless there's lots of quoting long posts.

I get confused as to who said what, and my eyes hurt.

I sometimes get distracted by a lovely pair of boobs though.

Me too. My eyes cannot cope with the big stretches of quotes.

It still baffles me. Does anyone really want to know about plans between others for next week or how much you enjoyed that snog at the party when the thread isn't even related. Hey, watch our coolness. Not. Silly really.

Doesn’t it depends on when the thread started too and how many comments there are.

I do both skimming and reading all. Esp in story threads when people post just to keep up to date.
