I wonder if the effort they put into the first game, combined with the heat affected them....

I suspect our success at the last 2 major tournaments has coloured peoples expectations. We did well for sure. Did we overachieve, I suspect so. Did we get a favourable route to the semis and final, did other teams results help us, I suspect so. It remains a mystery why a team with so much individual talent can't actually play as a team. It's not like they're not used to playing quality European opposition/players, most of them do it week in week out in the PL and CL. Is the weight of our expectation too heavy, does the criticism they get for a poor performance affect how they express their talent, does the fear of loss and the venom it attracts make them afraid to take risks and play not to lose, rather than take risk and play to win? I'm not sure I'd want to be an England manager or player. Winston | |||

We're on a piss poor run of form that's for sure, 6 - 2 game aside.

It remains a mystery why a team with so much individual talent can't actually play as a team. It's not like they're not used to playing quality European opposition/players, most of them do it week in week out in the PL and CL.
Is the weight of our expectation too heavy, does the criticism they get for a poor performance affect how they express their talent, does the fear of loss and the venom it attracts make them afraid to take risks and play not to lose, rather than take risk and play to win?
I'm not sure I'd want to be an England manager or player.

Normal service was resumed. I bloody hate watching England play. We are so dull.
Yup, the 6 - 2 win was incredibly dull.
I wonder if the effort they put into the first game, combined with the heat affected them....
Not taking anything away from the USA, who were tactically sound, stuck to their plan and were the better side for most of the game.
Pulisic is IMHO a very good and underrated player.

Thing is Winston. Are you able to predict which england show up for the next game.? The boring, slow, pass it backwards England that played in the nations Cup.. And the USA game... And the qualifying matches... Or... The exciting vibrant, confident, expressive one that showed up against Iran.? Previously only seen in the 5 1 defeat of Germany in munich. I mean 2 games in and has kane had a shot at goal yet.? Its frustrating when you see glimpses of what we are capable of.
We're on a piss poor run of form that's for sure, 6 - 2 game aside.

That's a huge positive...for so many reasons... Nice guys can win and all that. But if we won playing that dross... For me it would kind of be like the women winning... As in, Well done, but can't get excited about it. At the end of the day it's supposed to be entertaining and enjoyable to watch... Getting slightly ahead of myself though...
