Does anyone still go out on a weekend anymore? I’m finding myself in a strange place where nobody seems to want to go out of a weekend.

If you do go out, is it a quite pub? Club? Casino?

Fridays always seems to be busier than Saturdays, unless you go out-out!

I try to go out as much as I can. That said I work all day Sundays so if I am travelling a good distance it needs to be a Friday. Saturday nights I have to remain local due to the early start the next day.

Do you feel old when you go out. I did once, it was funny. I felt someone was going to ask if I was a manager or something.

I work in a “going out venue” , the demography of our clientele has drastically changed in the last year. Still busy but a much younger customer base.

I have a few opinions on the matter

- cost of living , the youngsters have less bills more disposable income.

- During Covid , it’s lockdowns and it’s farcical semi-lockdowns, grownups have got used to entertain at home .

- For the best part of 18 months , the coming of age kids didn’t get the opportunity to experience the all “going out” thing and they’re still making up for it.

- Taxis … there’s a shortage, the mature population generally prefers to know that they’ll get home within a reasonable time scale rather than queue for 2 hours .

Many over 30 who pre Covid went out weekly are now out about once a month, amongst other things most resent the 18/20 years old invasion .

There’s also the loss of the Europeans who opted to go home for good, whether because of the pandemic or Brexit.

All in all the “going out” landscape, I feel , has drastically changed and for me an evening out is now mostly dinner out with the very occasional clubbing night thrown in

Sometimes we go out but a lot of Saturday's we stay in in. If we go out we tend to go to clubs or out for a curry if we stayed in in it's movie night and nibbles or just really naughty night

All systems are still a go in London. More expensive maybe but not stopping Londoners and those who come to London to visit or to stay.

London is still open for business, pleasure, free events, indoors, outdoors locals and tourists

We had some restaunrants close in my 5 mile radius but then we had some more re-open to take their place so....not much change in venues at all.

Aww hugs. If it's any consolation I had a terrible crisis before my 32nd birthday, ended up in HDU and the psych hospital....

So as long as it isn't as bad as that, you are good and if it is as bad as that, I got help and I'm still here standing/fucking/hiding under my weighted blanket.

My friends' midlife crisis comes from children ( the little buggers), ok no more accurately parenting, relationship breakdowns, f-ing cost of living, generally feeling like they have no control over their lives (or their children's futures) and they have no joy, fun or relaxation.

I'm not a parent, I live like a cheap skate, I've been out of a relationship for 9 years, I no longer GAF about shit I can't control and I force myself to have joy, fun and relaxation ( otherwise it will be another ambulance call out and I don't fancy being sectioned again/ever).

I know it's a bit different when you live in London....there's always something going on for entertainment/leisure/fun/relaxation -wise and some of it is free so no worries about shelling out loads of money.

I think last year I rocked up to a random church ( yes I'm a swinging churchgoer) on Regent street, just to hear the carol service and got give free non-alcoholic mulled wine and mince pies. All I was expecting was to sing a few carols from my childhood in an empty church. It was 100 times better than I thought it would be.

that thing in the week, where I'm usually at work but once a month or so I get to wild out and then go back to my vanilla, anally retentive "normal " life. Lol!
