So I'm useless at Maths but your a talented bunch so ...

If the population of the west midlands is 2.7million people, approx. 2.5% of the population have swapped partners, I have approximately 250 friends, work colleagues and acquaintances and the typical attendance of my local club is 200 people...

What are the chances of me meeting someone I know?

Need more data, like how many of them would attend a club and how many other clubs are within a typical travelling distance.

But if your luck is anything like mine, there’s a fair chance

With all the variables I'd say about 1 in 100.

Assuming your friends and acquaintances are "average" folk, then you could assume that 2.5% of them would potentially swap partners. So 2.5% of 250 would be 6.25 people who were potentially swingers.

Hopefully you never meet the quarter of a person.
