Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I'm 50 next week. Yesterday I bought one of those contraptions which help you open jars, bottles, etc., I find myself making oomph noises when rising from the sofa, need reading glasses, and have arthritis in my knees.

Yet, I love to dance, wear staggering heels and kinky bedwear, shag guys lots younger - many who can't keep up!! I don't feel old and have no problems aging. In fact love it that I am getting older.

Am I old yet?

Brighton - even Hove!

I'm 42. I don't feel as if anything has changed body looks ability wise since about 35 except the SECOND I turned 40, I started going grey. I don't mind, I've never gone grey before and it's new and different.

There are days when I feel really old, usually when I can feel the pain in my knees after a good dance class, or pains in the legs after some good sex, or having one glass of whatever too many.

Otherwise, I feel great, and can move a lot faster than a lot of the youngsters at work.

I consider myself not too bad for being nearly 48, with no significant health issues except for carrying some excess weight.

Oh, and doing squats definitely helps to improve the strength in my legs, resulting in less pain the day after!

I wasn't complaining and I'm certainly not worried about getting old. Just wondered if I was getting to that stage after buying the same jar opener as my 90 year old aunt!!

The day I consider myself as old would be the day I give up tent and trailer tent camping and buy a tin tent instead.

Haha well some equipment does have its uses. Your just being lazy now by not trying to open the jar using your hands. Joking joking

I dont blame you..sometimes opening a bloody jar takes ages. I could be doing something else during that time haha.

I have a small bottle of wine with a screw top that I cannot open. It will be opened eventually, even if it means resorting to a knife and/or pliers, which was what I did while camping a while back with another bottle.

We're all getting older but it's how we do it that counts. I love being in my fifties sex is better than ever, confidence is high and I know what I want and how to go about getting it

I'm 45. I cycle a fair bit and i'm fitter now than when i was 25. I can do 100 mile rides without too much pain but i'm currently in bed with sciatica!

I have a condition called CMT which means i have crappy feet and my hands are starting to go, losing strength in my grip etc.

I'm finding i can do the riding stuff, its the recovery that take slonger..

Welcome to the golden decade

I identify with your comments completely. I've noticed little things - like having to wear glasses for reading, the same 'oomph' when getting up off the sofa (dropping some weight would probably help me there though) and I've even caught myself 'tut tutting' over things that would've have happened 'in my day'.

However, I'm not going down without a fight - my hairdressers make a small fortune out of me having my hair coloured / foiled regularly and I try to dress in a modern, but age appropriate style.

And blokes in the club we go to don't seem to have an issue with a more mature, generously proportioned woman.

You look great in that corset by the way OP

With age one becomes more confident, with less worries about being judged, and more accepting of his/her own flaws, while knowing how to make the most of what his/her maker has given him/her.

I am more sexually confident in my forties than when I was younger, and am looking forward to plenty more sexy fun in my 50s!

No as I have had one of those contraptions for a long time, along with a nice son I have found though as I have RSA that hot water is easier as I don't have such a strong grip any more. I also do have less patience than I used to, other than that, you are only as old as you feel

Just pop and elastic band around it

That was the first thing I tried and broke the elastic band in the process.

Got a little plastic mat for unscrewing jars and bottles, and that did not work either.

Hence I needed to use the knife and pliers. Good job they are part of my camping took kit!

If a jar lid is over tight and you can't unscrew it, take a big spoon and, using the curvy bit, 'tap' all round the top rim of the lid a few times. Hey presto - it can then be unscrewed with ease!

Or stick the lid under the hot tap for a minute or two.

Does not work for this blooming small bottle of wine I have though.

That's how I feel - which is why aging does not bother me. I am so much a better, sexier person now than in my 30s. And the sex is WAAAYYYY better!
