We were 17 and he was an arsehole having a tantrum about something I don't even remember now. But those words stung, and have always stayed with me.

There are a couple that will always stand out in my mind.

“When I imagine you, I imagine the fit girl I fell in love with. So when I see you now I’m disappointed.”

“We’re not getting married until you’re skinny enough to look good in a wedding dress.”

“It’s hard to love someone who cries all the time.” (I was badly depressed)

Had a big conversation just after the break-up where they told me they lied about almost everything I asked them to be honest about while we were together. It's painful to watch someone blankly admitt all that with no regret or apology yet still persist you were the reason the relationship ended and you werent good enough for them.

Same as my ex husband, all the reasons why he cheated on me. Just to tell everyone I was the one leaving and cheating on him once I met another person.

Another ex felt the need to tell me All the reasons why I wasn’t good enough to have a public relationship with me (he forgot to include the main one though: another woman)

I was in a toxic relationship and I’m not proud of it but I said some awful things in retaliation to her outbursts towards me

I moved out eventually but was still seeing her for sake of her children!

Knowing she was inviting round random guys whilst I wasn’t there

Our parting argument was she told me I would be alone because I was a fat ugly skint c@£t and she was going to sleep with my brother and mates

Cut a long story short I slept with what she thought was her bff

Her bff didn’t like her much either

20 years I was with the bff

I’ve not seen or spoken since the day she slammed the door as I left

But believe she has 5 children now all by different guys 3 failed marriages and lives alone as not even her kids want anything to do with her

There are some people who don’t deserve to be loved and some who get caught in the crossfire

I think this sums up perfectly why we always need to remember what we might consider just words, or an outburst or banter can have serious effects on others. Whilst we are not responsible for how others respond and react we are responsible for what we say.
