The Celtic ones, my favourite being Blodeuwedd. Totally a flawed character as most ancient gods are, but her images as a child captured my imagination.

Two completely different mythologies. Even though Pantheons are usually similar, the stories behind them are very different. Each one is awesome for its own merits. Celtic is really rich too

Roman gods came roughly 1000 years after the Greeks.Much Roman mythology was influenced by the Greek one.

In greek mythology gods and goddesses were based on human personality traits such as love, honor, hatred, dignity, as well as their roles in life determined by what they were god of. On the other hand roman ones were deities were primarily named after objects rather than human personality traits.

In other comparisons, greek ones had impotality whilst norse ones were mortal for example.

Some of the egyptian gods were often depicted as half humans and half animals, whereas all the greek gods were depicted as humans.

Stdying the mythology of all different cultures is definitely quite fascinating

Not yet. I’m saving it up for a Christmas binge. By a quick look at the titles there are 2 based on Lovecraft stories: Pickman’s Model and Dreams in the Witchhouse. Big fan, excited to watch them.

I have a fondness for Greek mythology. At school we studied a book of Greek myths and the artwork in it did things to my young brain. Lots of illustrations of various characters, humans and god, male and female barely concealing the interesting bits with carefully placed hands and bits of clothing. There was one of Prometheus chained to the rock with the eagle swooping down to peck out his liver, naked with a raised knee just covering his modesty.

The stories of the Norse God myths are all kinds of weird and strange on so many levels.

Loki is the mother of Odin's horse. After shape-shifting as a mere and courting Svadilfari, a stallion. Also the father of the giant World serpent, and Fenrir the giant wolf. Plus the father of Hel, goddess of helheim (underworld).

One of the issues when it comes to the old mythologies, especially Norse and Greek, is that pop culture (in this particular case, Marvel) have people believing Thor was a good looking heroic example.

He was a horrible "person", strong and every bit of power you expect him to be, but he was also a very out of shape thug. He liked to kill things, especially giants.
