Gentlemën, Ladiës, Binariës and Whateveriës...

Never a glorious day goes by where the topic of tea or coffee isn't mentioned. (Even the stomach-churning Pumpkin Spice Latte gets a look in!).

However — do you have a special 'go to' mug or cup? Something that you treasure, a keepsake, a gift from a loved one... A branded mug or cup that takes pride of place next to your favourite blend?

Yes, I do. I only ever drink tea from my favourite mug at home. It's quite short but wide, gently bowed out on the side, slightly ribbed so that it doesn't slip out of my hands, and the perfect size and shape for wrapping both hands around. It also happens to be a very pretty pearlised dark turquoise colour.

A purple Warner Brothers dog mug which I've been using daily for about 25 years.

It only ever holds coffee and only I use it.

We have 2 cups with half a face on each, a red one with a white inside and a white one with a red inside. When placed together, it looks like they are both kissing… The handles are shaped into hearts.

They look great and they are a decent size to have a good cup of tea…

I got a mug, one of those gimmicky ones that claims to enhance the flavour of coffee, from a coffee festival in 2018. I don't always use it, but it's my favourite.

My autistic brain allows me to drink from one mug and one mug only, and if it isn't in that mug I won't drink it.

It's a Dalmatian one, I've had it for years but it is wide and round. My mother (good old mum) has bought a few just incase it breaks.

I’m not to fussed with coffee But tea I’ve always found taste better out of a china cup. So I have myself one just for that. It’s not a dainty thing it’s quite big and I can get a decent amount inside it.

Are you absolutely, positively, sure you’re talking about a mug there?

That sounds like an extremely tactile mug. Tea drinking has never been so 'immersive'.

I've always collected mugs, and I still have my one from collecting Smiths Crisps tokens in the 80s - the damn thing still plays "We want to be Smiths Crips" even after all these years!

Any of my penguin mugs is great for a cuppa. Hubby has one with the words:

Charile

Umbrella

November

Tango

...in large letters on it. He says it's a pity that the rim isn't furry...

We don’t have novelty mugs but the couple of sets we have are China. I don’t really like a builders mug - they make me dribble

Mr doesn’t really have a say in the mug making decisions

Yes, i have a scooby doo mug that was gifted to me by a friend while i was at uni, probably 20 years ago now! The handle has been glued back on and no one else ever uses it. Its my coffee mug as its slightly larger than my other mugs and is nice to hold as its tapered rather than straight sided. I have some other mugs which have been given to me, most i only use for specific drinks, like hot chocolate, or cold milk. Im a bit particular about my mugs! But living alone i can get away with it! I have different cups/mugs for different drinks. I have a beautiful China cup and saucer at home for my coffee, I have a similar cup and saucer for work, I have a really big China cup for tea, a mug for hot chocolate and a different one in case I have a cuppa soup.

I prefer a cup and saucer

We have about 30 coffee mugs in the house.

Fox doesn't drink tea or coffee.

I don't have a favourite and generally go for the biggest. Usually one of those giant sports direct ones.

At home, i will only drink Coffee from my treasured Luton Town FC Stein mug.

Its about 30% bigger than normal mugs.

And i will only wash it by hand, never in the dishwasher. Do avoid it fading

At work..i carry a normal sized LTFC mug in my kitbag.

I’ve A favourite one that I got from work secret Santa a couple of years ago that says ‘bad girls tell good stories’.

I’ve recently started a new job in a justice/legal setting and my OH treated me to one from Betty’s tea room. the new job told me not to bring a mug I treasured as they often get pinched! What irony!

I acquired one recently that will be displayed on my bedside chest.

For tea I like my bone china mug.

For hot chocolate I use my Winnie the Pooh or Bumblebee mug.

Tonypandy.

Bought myself a massive mug from charity shop few years ago. It's my lazy mug, as I don't have to get up and make 2nd cup this way.

Sadly, developed a slow drip, so just been chucked out. On hunt for another now.

Norfuck! / Lincolnshire

I like a small China mug and I hate those heavy, thick rimmed mugs

Most of my mugs are from the ‘I’d rather be…. ‘ series

Drinking champagne

Trimming my bush

Drinking gin

Shopping for handbags/shoes

In the shed

I’m quite partial to a China cup and saucer too! ( well I would be wouldn’t I )

Over the yrs I have got through so many cups. There is not any piece of crockery that I have had that long.
