Don't you hate it when people say that. Friends or family you haven't talked to for a while and then they ask why haven't you contacted them? Like it's your job to make 1st contact. The way I see it whoever sent the last message then it's the other person who hasn't made contact.

We just message each other when we have something to say tbh, cannot be arsed with turn rules with people I chat to, it would take forever with some of them

Yeah, I just don't understand why people say that? I'm like No why haven't you messaged me? I always try to be the last to message just in case this happens lol

I don’t ‘hate it’. I get annoyed when I’ve done most of keeping the contact going, but then, they accuse me of not contacting, when I’ve challenged them.

I don’t apologise nor chase anyone anymore.

This can be irritating, but some people have busier lives than others, as they work longer hours, have kids and more demands on their time.

Others may suffer from anxiety and overly worry about contacting people.

I don't think it's necessary to take turns in messaging. I'll often msg friends, on multiple platforms, before they've replied even to the last msg.

If they wanted to, they would! Simple as that.

I dont agree with the whoever sends the last messsage thing, I often text my sister and friends things before I forget whatever it is im texting. I do prefer phone calls though for anything important or just checking in on how people are in general. It really shouldnt feel like a 'job' if its your people you actually like and spend your time with.
