When they are from someone you fancy and would actually be up for meeting, but its clear they have not bothered to read your profile? I find it off putting.

The best ones are when they’ve sent the same copy and paste message twice on the same day so it appears again in an unread message. It really does make my day… not theirs though when they get deleted

If they're looking for people 6ft plus again I pass, I'm perfectly average.

If they're looking for well endowed, see above response...

If however people are looking to have a laugh and some fun if the mood takes then I'll write whatever comes to mind at the time, try and sell ourselves a little and see what comes of the message.

I have to say that I don't always read the profile. Usually I just paying them a compliment, or highlighting something in their profile that I like. I will mention that I am not after meeting up though. My messages are always written, not badly copied and paste messages.

The issue isn't exclusively constrained to "cut and paste" messages, in addition to it being a "male" foible.

I've had three instances this week where the women have failed to read my profile and yet, despite them having instigated the conversation with unimaginative monosyllabic messages, have moaned when I've reciprocated in similar fashion.

The culprits are the ones who whose profiles pontificate about being "articulate" and "sapsiosexual" but are clearly unable to lead by example. Lip service isn't lost on them.

I have to add alot of men do write well thought out messages but not really catered to my needs. So yes again not reading my profile properly and trying thier luck. Like they tick 2 boxes but fail miserably at 3 which sorry is a no go. Like i really can't cope with facial and body hair

Tbh, I've had messages that are more creative from M then F. If you met them in the street/out you wouldn't go into great detail. Would be a simple greeting and grows from there. People expect too much on here from people thinking they are owed an essay filling their ego/validation before they should message back.

Don’t mind a ‘copy and paste’ message. As long it matches what we’re looking for and well constructed, including the profile.

It’s when we either haven’t yet replied (or decided not to) to the first message, but then, receive a second one within days (or months later), as if it’s the first message to us. Then it’s a no or a delete.

Don’t some people take notice of their ‘message summary’ with profiles they’re considering?

I don't blame men at all for sending copy and paste messages. Why bother spending time reading lots of profile text and writing something special if it just gets deleted every time.

I practice what i preach on dating sites and here. I always mention something I like about their profile and ask them a question. But I don't have essays on the first message. Then copy and paste that to everyone

I’ve never used copy and paste when messaging women. I’ve always looked at the pics, read the profile and only contact women I like the look of. However, seeing a nicely written, friendly message get deleted, or you’re even blocked after sending it, is a little disheartening. As a result, I can see why some men would copy and paste and just carpet bomb. Not for me but it must work for some.

Doesn't bother us particularly.

We don't expect people to invest substantial time in an initial message, they don't know if they are even going to get read let alone responded.

We don't (unlike many on here) assume that other people's time is inherently worth less than ours. People are busy and there's nothing wrong with the first message being generic expressions of interest.

When it remains generic after the first message however, that's a problem.

I don't really care. As long as they remember to change the names and that they sent you the same message three times previously. I think it's what follows the initial message that's important and you can't expect people to continuously come up with interesting messages

I can’t really say that a copy and paste message would ever annoy me or stoke any kind of reaction or emotion from me. If the profile/person/people is/are not what I’m looking for then I ignore the message and move on

The copy and paste legal paragraphs/Sydney university statements do always make me roll my eyes when I see them on profiles. But no drama, if those statements give a person a bit of security and comfort then it’s their choice to fill their bio with what ever they want

As a bloke, it is always handy to have a template. Just remember to delete the non relevant bits.
