I used to be a massive fan of LOTR as a young teen. My main interest was collecting and painting to create awesome dioramas. Have fond memories of getting a Mumakil for Xmas. I did dabble in matches at my local Games Workshop, though I remember finding losses really hard to stomach!

I still regret throwing my 1991 edition of Bloodbowl out And I’m enjoying the odd visit to games workshop to buy my paints for the miniatures I get into now and again. (Avoiding eye contact with the staff obviously )

I never got into Warhammer, and I thought I should have, I just never took to it as much as my pals did.

I started playing 40K when rogue trader was released, I had a Rainbow Warrior force space marine force.

I stopped playing when they revised the rules, mean a pistol could take out a dreadnaught. I thought it got too simplified.

I've been listening to the Realmslayer Audiobook over the holiday. It deserves so much love...

For those who know, you know: for those who don't...

You take one of the Warhammer Black Library's best ever characters, Gotrek Gurnisson, and you bring him into the AoS world (I'm not a fan of Age of S**tmar, but OK). Then you get the GOAT to voice this legend. Brian f***ing Blessed.

Pure auditory ecstasy.

Go. Listen. There's even a clip on Youtube to help you understand why (think it's called "Gotrek's Badass Boast" or similar)

I've only ever been on the edges of 40K, being a D&D player of many years. But I appreciate the dedication that goes into it, and I love the world concept. I have the standalone Space Hulk box, and I love playing that.

I'd be dead keen on a decent movie, especially with Henry Cavill, and especially if he gets his shirt off

I feel sorry for the people just bought the world eaters book or guard book .. thats got to hurt not even getting 6months out of the shiny new rule book

Rules for 10th who knows until they release more details . I ma guessing it will follow 8th start off like indexes then end up a mess 2 years down the line with books/expansions again .. GW cant help themselves

I am just going to hold fire on starting new factions now and just finish of painting up stuff I have . and sell off some armies I no longer have interest in ..

May look at doing a new army for 10th like World Eaters as the model range is small so at least be fast to get on table

I used to collect when I was younger. Originally a mix of Dark Angels, Skaven and Dwarfs.

I recently picked up the hobby after about a 15 year hiatus. Started a new 40K ork army and am really enjoying it. I used to hate painting but love it now. I also understand the game a bit better haha.

Currently also smashing through the Horus Heresy novels and I'm loving them!

So was AOS with warscroll for unit data. Until they decided later to remove that part and keep it in books / paid app

Think the initial launch rules will be free and then eventually once it’s been a year + it will go paid again as codex books come out again.

Mainly under the bed...

I've been gaming with GW since the first edition of Spacehulk (with genestealer/deathwing supplements and the original metal terminator squad box too, my old man got them for a steal at a convention bring and buy).

Currently balls deep in Horus Heresy 2.0: Emperors Children (at about 12k points built but 2 squads painted...) and may have hit FW hard for knights/a reaver with my last load of overtime.

Was never much into the Black Library until recently and have now started reading the Horus Heresy books.

As for playing, did dabble a little but 9th was just a bloated mess and really put me off, I’m really hopeful for 10th though!

I’m hoping for Codex’s becoming Lore and Art books with the actual faction rules being a free download. Beyond the start of 10th obviously, I know they’re releasing everyone’s rules free on day one

Quite liking the look of 10th as well. I found 9th to be really clunky and it was hard to keep up with all the rules changes etc. I struggled with so many rules in so many different places. Thankfully, I only play casually with a friend so we're not too fussy about being strict.

AFAIK all armies get a basic layout and half a dozen stratagems and traits and whatnot. For more involved games, I reckon you'll still have to purchase something (it's GW after all) but to get a casual game on (and add a few 'house rules') easily will be brilliant.

I don't NOT need to start a new army.

"AFAIK all armies get a basic layout and half a dozen stratagems and traits and whatnot. For more involved games, I reckon you'll still have to purchase something (it's GW after all) but to get a casual game on (and add a few 'house rules') easily will be brilliant.

I don't NOT need to start a new army."

I DO need to finish painting my 3 current armies and maybe make a start on the 4th that’s currently in the shame pile

I like AOS as well just working out on what to do with my vampires next ...

AT moment I am looking to get into battle tech or maybe bolt action ../ tried the marvel crisis game with some gaming people at our group . but I didn't really resonate with the rules ...

Used to be very into it as a youngster.

My local board games shop has loads of tables people play warhammer on and they looked great but I told myself not to get back into it. Due to it being too much money and time consuming.

Then the AoS magazine started coming out and I found myself putting it in my trolly at the supermarket. Then I subscribed, then decided I wanted to revert back to my old 40k imperial guard army.

I now have a 1500-ish army which is growing, painted around 50% of it thus far and I don’t even want to begin to think about how much money I’ve poured into it in the last few months. Especially with the amount of paints and things I’ve got to accompany it all.

I even have plans to build a table in the garage!

Bloody plastic crack!!!

I've never played, but recently started painting miniatures and that's been fun, I'd like to try playing in the future.

"I've never played, but recently started painting miniatures and that's been fun, I'd like to try playing in the future. "

The new edition of the 40k tabletop game is due next month, or there are smaller game types (Kill Team or new upcoming Combat Patrol) to try that have somewhat easier access. If you have a Warhammer store near you they should give you a free* introduction game.

*The first bite is free but then it kinda takes over.

I don't play, but I do build and paint the models, read the books and love diving into the lore

It's so easy to lose yourself in the lore and there are some really good in depth videos on YouTube.

I’m currently trying to catch up on my painting backlog before 10th Ed drops, also become part of a Black Library book club on insta… so I’m still spending money even if I’m not buying minis

I did the Imperium subscription, so I’ve been getting a delivery every month…. But because I’ve not actually gone in and bought it, it doesn’t count

Definite fan here, currently only seem to have time for Blood Bowl or rare game of Necromunda. But definitely tempted with boarding actions, 500pts of 40k sounds about perfect for my attention span on painting

Exactly what we used to do! Loved modding them.

We did make up some rogue rules to incorporate into necromunda and that was bloody epic! Gang warfare that you could take to the max max style concept!
