Anything between £10 and £20. The costs are spiralling for even the most basic of essentials.

Trying to work it out and I got to about £14 a day. But that's for all 5 of us.

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

Food prices in Italy don’t seem to have skyrocketed as much as the U.K., also I only shop in and also type equivalent, I make as much food as possible from scratch, so no ready meals, also I don’t eat out at all, or buy sandwiches or whatever for lunch, only ever what I have at home, and I definitely try to keep my spending on food significantly under about 90 euros a month, so less than 3 euros a day I guess

I live on my own . Roughly spend on average approx £5 a day or less . This down to bulk cooking meals. I buy joints of beef / pork . Cook . Then slice up in individual meals . Put in freezer. Same as curry , spaghetti bolognese and other meals.

Genuinely not understanding how people are spending so little.

Is this just on extra food or the weekly shop plus extras?

We probably spend between £150-200 a week on food for 4 adults and a hungry child. Works out at just over £5 per head, per day ish. We rarely eat out.

So …. I gave up . I make a bolognesa for 3 decent big boy meals in ten minutes

Is not worth go lazy any more

The market is flamming .

Going down the hill .

Bakery will be bread only

No one will be buying cakes . Etc .

Depends if I’m at home or not

When away, it’s about 20-25, including a pint - although I get paid more than that each day by work as an allowance.

At home, I’m a reet cheap date as I eat a lot of pasta which is piss cheap and make my own lunch to take to work usually

I am very aware of that. Is that the daily cost divided by your weekly food shop or how much you spend daily on extra food. I think it was quite a straightforward question.

When I can be arsed, I can cook about 4 days of evening meals for about £6….even lower if I plan ahead to get two things in the oven at once and freeze up some portions for later- double ovening can save a packet

My 3.50 is over a month of weekly shops. Not just good. That’s beer/deodorant etc. seriously, I live like a fuckin’ student now. Times are hard…

*picks up a bow to go hunting rabbits

*true story on my weekly shop though. I average 25-30quid.

Wtf are you eating for £16.97 a day?

Depends where I am on what I spend but away I get it paid for, or get it back at least, at home a lot less, but it's definitely creeping up.

The joy of the slow cooker means I always have meals in the freezer. I buy veg and par boil and freeze it.

I spend about £100 a month for me and 2 kids. So not even a fiver a day.

I go for the odd pub dinner, but it's a family member that owns the pub so I get it cheap.

And I could probably cut the £100 down if I tried.

The joy of growing up in poverty. I learned how to make money and food go a long way

I can well understand how you'd spend that much. Of course it depends on how and what you eat but it's really not excessive in the current climate
