Met a old girl friend today, so I was told she flirted with me, usual questions are you seeing anyone etc. I have a firm rule of no going back out with someone once we have fallen out.

So what firm rules do you live by or is it a case of whatever happens

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

No regrets. Even when I have made stupid mistakes I have learned from them - so they were useful. No point in regretting.

I got involved with a girl in late 1970's. We went out for a couple of years and had to part 'cos she "needed more than I could offer".

Fast forward 15 years and she 'phoned to say she'd been married, divorced and did I want to go for a drink?

We went out for another couple of years and parted the day Diana died. I won't forget that.

We met up again 3 years ago and have spent a lot of time together since. Neither of us (I think) has any expectation of this beyond two auld pals sharing a friendship few others could comprehend.

Only thing I try to keep in mind is do it now, you may not be able to tomorrow.

It's not a rule, rules are just silly limitations.

I'm far too soft hearted and always forget the bad times and just smile for the great times iv shared with an ex partner...last week I had to say " there was to much water passed under the bridge".to my ex Mrs..iv still got a heavy heart and a dull feeling in my guts for that comment..

Same here. I've made some monumental fuck ups in the past too, but just put them down as "life lessons".

It's a cliche but I also try to make sure I do something when faced with difficult choices, as I can live with regretting something I did but cannot stand regretting not having done something.
